Help Wireless tether not very consistent

I'm using Cyanogenmod 7 (build 100 I think) and WiFi Tether 3.1 beta 6.

I have no problem providing wireless for my Galaxy Tab 10.1. The problem is that it's just not very consistent. It will work flawlessly for a bit and then just "lose" connection.

It will still show a connection, but data will stop transmitting. Interestingly enough, I seem to get a more consistent connection when I set the WiFi Tether app to Droid X mode versus Droid 2 mode.

Any suggestions?

EDIT: It appears to stop transmitting data when my Droid 2 goes into screen lock mode and shows a blank screen. When I unlock it and get the WiFi Tether app on-screen again, data starts transmitting a few seconds later. Is this the cause?
