    Hello All,

    I bought a Fantom M971 10.1" Android tablet.

    "About device" reads
    - Model WM8850-MID
    - Kernel version 3.0.8
    - Build number 4.1.1 JB Ver1.3.5-20130322.015719

Could anyone tell me if there is a GPS chip in the device, and if it could be activated by rooting?

    hello there my friend.

i got a wm8850-mid, android tablet, and it reads the same name, but not a fantom device, sounds to me the chip for the model is messed up, but i know most tablets have got a GPS, , the only suggestion i got is if u look in the settings, under either location, etc there should be a #setting for the GPS there, and no you don't need the device rooted for GPS on or off

also if u have a app called maps installed, that should also have settings to enable the GPS service on the Device
