My phone had no mobile signal, so I tried to turn it off and on. It seemed to turn off more quickly than normal. I then tried to turn it on, and it's now stuck with a screen that shows the Android icon, a start arrow and a message that says "Downloading..... Do not turn off target". Pressing the start arrow doesn't do anything.

I don't really want to take out the battery when I'm warned not to "turn off the target", but I don't know what else to do.

    Please help.......

After waiting for a while, I pressed the off button and the display turned off. I pressed it again and the phone started up normally. It seems OK so far, but it's probably a good idea to try a factory reset.

If the phone didn't turn on OK, how can I ensure that all my files are deleted before returning it for repair?

You should have let finish Doing its thing, it can take a long time from what I have seen. Your lucky you did not have to reflash your phone manually by I interupting the process.

your in odin mode. Just pull the battery, put it back in and power it up.

the reason you got into odin mode was you may have accidentally pressed volume down as you was hitting the power button.

i wouldn't recommend doing a factory reset. at this time.

I've accidentally taken screenshots several times, so there's a fair chance I pressed volume and power at the same time when turning it back on. I'm glad things weren't as bad as I feared.

    Thanks for your posts.
