Correct. Rooting and using a ROM like Syndicate Frozen or midNIGHT eliminates that. :)

I would ditch the slide out in a heartbeat. I don't use it. I thought I would need it until I saw the size of the keyboard in landscape...no problems! I also don't use swype. It's worthless, imo. I bought Smart Keyboard Pro and love it!

So yeah, if I could get an EPIC without the slide out I'd be all over it.

nah. many wanted a galaxy slate over the evo and opted for the epic. They wanted the samoled screen and hummingbird processor, possibly a microsd slot that was hot swappable. though, those people will get their wish most likely with the Within. I'll be bummed if a GS2 slider doesn't come to Sprint, hell, just a 4+" dual core slider in general.

I started this thread, dont use the keyboard EVER, and I still would not trade my phone for an Evo.

    ^Boom!!
serious note, I came from an Evo, while its a good phone I dont think it compares to the Epic. The only thing it has on the Epic is a bigger Dev community. But the Dev community for the Epic is growing :)

When did the USA & this forum decide to prohibit discussion?

    They didn't.

And unfortunately, they didn't prohibit you posting your opinions either.

Btw, I spent about 1/2 checking out the Nexus S yesterday and I love it! Oh, and even unrooted it has NO Spring bloatware!

That's funny. I'm about 90% sure that I'm going to join my sister's family plan on AT&T and get Atrix or Inspire. No keyboard!

The swype template is designed to remeber how you type so it knows what to say next bujt it falls short because if youj type a message and accidentally type the wrong letter swype remembers it even if u delete it you have to manually get rid of the stuff that makes no sense and then swype will be awesome again

Swype and voice to text...that's all I need, not a two piece, thick phone that feels like it has loose parts when you maneuver it. THIN large screen...perfect!!

I think I would use the keyboard more if the keys were raised or rounded slightly, and more responsive.

I would probably get the epic without a keyboard if it were available, I do like the keyboard but I dont use it much except for really long messages and I use it to control the games I play on my emulators but i also dont like how sometimes it skips buttons and doesnt respond all the time but i do like how it has the xtra row of keys so everytime i want to hit a number button i dont have to hit shift

While I do love the keyboard for long texts, entering in passwords, and when doing my bank info, I could probably go without a keyboard as long as the virtual one had a damn good autocorrect. Even swype annoys me sometimes when it gives me words that completely do not resemble what I tried putting in.

Nonetheless, the next phone I pick up will probably not have a keyboard as I am either getting the Sprint version of the Galaxy S II or the Nexus Prime if it comes to Sprint.

I would go without it. The phone would be skinny and nimble.

One word: sporcle. I'm addicted, and can't use the onscreen keyboard for it.

But i love the keyboard. Granted, i also had the rumor and loved the keyboard, so i'm fairly used to it. And it makes a great handle to support the phone.

My fingers are to fat (or is that phat! lol) to move away from the slide out keyboard. I had a HTC without a slide out KB and had to sell it after 2 weeks of using it. :)
