Im still getting used to the phone. My my biggest concern right now is the led notification. Literally the smallest light in the world. I lovr led notifications and rely on it all the time. Idk why its soooo small? Upper right corner, not visible unless light.

    Does it even work?

I got the phone around 3 hours ago and been playing with everything trying to get it back close to what I had on my X. Just noticed like 15 min ago testing some e-mails back and forth that the LED doesn't even seem to be working with gmail or e-mail app notifications...

get an app to adjust it? spare parts or missed reminder i think it was one of them.

The LED is definitely smaller than what I'm used to and it blinks slower but it's nothing I couldn't get used to.

I'm a little confused by that statement. Are you saying that the LED notification isn't visible unless lit? If so, isn't that supposed to be how it works? lol

This was one of the first things I noticed as well. I always have my phone sounds off as I work in an office and rely on just the LED to see if I there is something I need to look at in my phone. This thing barely catches my attention if I am not looking directly at the phone.

man, I hope it's not as bad as the OP says it is. I just ordered this phone through amazon. The LED light was one of the reasons why I waited for the Bionic. I love Motolora's tri-color LED light. I hope it's still tri-color like my Droid X and somewhat noticable.

lol. on my droid X, i can actually see the bulb/led light in the phone due to the window over the light. lol

I happen to love the LED Its there, its noticeable but it wont blindingly notify you in the middle of the night "Hey man wake up you have an email waiting"
In my opinion its just right :D

Well if it makes y'all feel any better, the Bionic's LED is a helluva lot better than the one in the Droid Charge.

I am coming from an Incredible, and the LED light on there was very recessed, so it was extremely hard to see, especially if it was sitting on the desk. I am able to see the LED on the bionic from across my desk no problem. It could maybe be a bit brighter and the flash sequence could be sped up, but I personally don't think it is too bad at all.

OK, how does the tri-color LED work? Different colors for different notifications? I have only seen green so far, when I had a voicemail message. I would like to be able to configure it to show me when I have other things - texts, emails, etc., coming in, but can't seem to find a way to do that. Any ideas, or is this not possible?

All Android system notifications (or any apps that use them) have only one standard color. Some other apps send notifications independently and can have different colors (Trillian works this way). The only way to change colors for each app is through 3rd party apps. Lightflow has this capability but I wasn't able to get it to work. Something to do with the way Moto programs the LED or something. There are some others mentioned above like Missed Reminder, but I didn't luck with that one either.

I'm still having a issue seeing my LED come on at all... I'm heading to VZW right now to ask about it and make sure I'm not doing something ******ed.

Well, the reps at the store weren't even sure there was a notification LED. One of them thought I was thinking where the LED is, is just the pocket/face detector for phonecalls... but you can distinctly see two recesses, one for the LED and one for that sensor.

The other guy tried looking up information to verify it had one, but couldn't find anything so obviously wasn't going to replace my phone right away.

Then we tried sending the demo Bionic's texts, and the security anchor of course was conveniently placed over where the LED exists.

And of course, checking the manual does nothing because it doesn't even point it out!

I'm not going crazy am I? There really is a notification LED like the reviews say? Does anyone know of any pics or youtube videos that happen to show it on/working?

EDIT: Found one already- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rNfYeXg_lPc 8min in or so you can see it blinking red, probably because of low battery... wow wish I had one of those LEDs...

sadly it's gonna have to wait until I get back from a short trip out of town... ARGGHHHH

I was having a problem seeing the LED with programs like Handcent for example. However, I realized that the screen had to be off for them to work with Handcent (I'd gotten to used to Simply Stunning:D) Which programs have u specifically tried?

I noticed that Kik Messenger LED notification hasn't been working I don't think. Also, there are no LED notifications while the phone is charging. :(

If I have uncleared notifications, my led will blink in sleep mode. This works during charging also. If I wake up the phone and have notifications in the notification area, the led will stop blinking since I can see that I have notifications. If I sleep my phone again without clearing them, the led will blink again until I clear the notifications.

Give my app a try (BattMonX). I initially wrote it per a suggestion from our own AF Moderator Steven58 for the Droid X since the DX also did not light-up the LED while the phone was being charged.

I don't know how well my app will work on the Bionic, but it works wonderfully on the other Motorola Droid-class phones (original Droid, Droid 2, Droid 2 Global, Milestone, Droid X, etc.). The DX (and others listed all have a tri-color LED (red/green/blue) and it looks like the Bionic might too (I'm still reading through these threads to see what you guys have reported).

Anyway, give it a shot. If it doesn't work out of the box, try going into menu -> Preferences / Settings -> Experimental Settings -> Locate Battery / LED Files.

The app also has an LED color tester and, when rooted, can light-up the LED while the screen is on.

Check it out and let me know.
