Help X10 and google maps...screen dimming

I'm having a problem with gmaps on my x10. The screen will dim and then turn off after a few minutes even though the gps is active and I am moving. I have the phone plugged into the cig adpater in my car. When I use gmaps on my BlackBerry the screen stays bright as long as I have it open.

Anyone know If its possible to keep the screen from dimming and turning off?

If you're in navigation mode then the backlight will stay on. In regular mode it will turn off.
If you want the screen to stay on you will have to set the screen timeout in the display settings on the main settings menu.

I just had a quick look on the android market and if you search for screen timeout there appears to be a couple of apps that allow you to easily toggle screen timeout on and off from a widget. I haven't tried any of them but maybe they'll work for you.

KeepScreen allows you to choose which apps you do not want the screen to timeout when running. Seems to work pretty slick!
