Help xperia play wont delete threads

my xperia play will not delete message threads it only deletes the converations
i have noticed that the date and time are incorrect on these messages statin 1jan 1969 please help

I suggest resetting the the messaging application to resolve this,

Menu > Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > All > Messaging > Clear Data ( this will remove all sms from the handset)

However I could also suggest downloading an application such as Handcent as this application will allow you to back up messages to memory card if you do not wish to lose this data.
