XPERIA RAY:MR NUMBER Call Blocker APP: PERMISSION for EVERYTHING?

Android newbie here. When I tried to install my first (FREE) APP, MR. NUMBER on my Sony XPERIA Ray, it asked (DEMANDED) permissions to go virtually anywhere and do ANYTHING in my phone... Are all APPS like that ???..I'm certainly not going to give it a blanket OK to mess with everything in my phone.

It depends on the nature of the app. I mean I have several apps that ask no permission at all.

And well, reading the features of the app, it does need all those permissions to be able to them. If you want something with less permissions, you need something with less features.

I just figured that all it needed access to was my CONTACTS/Numbers list to see WHAT/WHO to block but it wants access to virtually every program/detail/item on the phone. I do get a WARNING that giving this blanket permission is dangerous..I dont think I'll bother. THX for the reply

Actually, the program has more features than just call blocking. Also for call blocking, it needs access for phone state, so it can detect when someone is actually calling, sd card editing for writing logs, and I forgot what permission was needed for altering ring alert.

Mr Number does indeed need all of that and as someone who has used Mr Number since my 1st Android I can tell you that I've never had an issue with them doing anything to my phone detrimental. :)
