You have what is known as a 'semi-bricked' phone.
It happens when the phone can not complete it's update or something along the lines screwed up the ROM.

Unfortunately your only course of action now is to download the PC software Odin and then obtain the latest firmware update from samfirmware.com

It is quite easy but for a first timer you may find it a little undaunted.

In that case have a look at this... It gives full guidance on what you need and what to do.

    Can you explain why?
Be quick though as I only have a few minutes before shooting off.

Whoa! Hold on Beards, thats not what it means at all in this case! It means the phone is detecting an unsigned kernel (the one neccessary for Rooting). It does no harm whatsoever! You can get rid of it in a couple of ways if it really bothers you, one using a hardware jig, and another I think flashing back to the original kernel (with Root privileges maintained).

Okay, misread the request... Thought we had the failure icon from flashing the ROM.
    Now I see it's a root issue.

No worries, just imagined the poor guy having a heart attack reading your post that his SGSII was semi-bricked!

    Hi Guys,
i was trying to install chainfire, was following the steps,
once odin3 said a green pass, rebooted the device, found a yellow exclamation, it doesnt do anything beyond that.

"Semi-Bricked gave me a heart attack too".
Please shed some light so as to i can get the phone operating again.

thanks, awaiting for someone to give quick response.
its over midnight where i am at :(

As long as your phone turns on and operates normally, its fine. The yellow triangle is just and indicator that you don't not have an official Samsung stock kernel. If it bothers you there are a couple of ways to remove it.

The link tells you how to do it your self.

Or you can buy a usb jig of eBay or Amazon. Just make sure you have the appropriate bootloader. Its half way down 2nd posting if you need to download the old boot loader. Its in bright red.

I am on 2.3.5 and I had to flash the old bootloader to be able to reset the binary counter and make the yellow triangle disappear.

edit: Now if you cant get past the boot screen at all........then that's a whole different story.

Did you make sure you picked the right file for your phone? I have never heard of someone bricking there phone with installing Chainfire root unless they picked the wrong one? What was you build and what file did you try and install?

BTW, the yellow triangle does not mean you bricked your phone and doesn't affect the functions of your phone. It just is an indicator that you rooted your phone. You can remove it later by purchasing a JIG from the internet.

    Thanks for the replies guys..

Yes its at the title screen, with the yellow triangle and doesnt go beyond.
i am able to goto the download mode..

Tried CF Kernel, for my stock kernel.. not sure where or how i screwed it up :(

It all started with NFS HP......

How to install and use Chainfire3D on Samsung Galaxy S2?

Started with that and flowed on...
    CF-Root-SGS2_XW_INU_KL1-v5.0-CWM5
    Stock was a INU-KL1. Running 2.3.6

    Am pretty new to Android.
Not yet sure, why i started this all...

Was stuck at the yellow triangle during Boot.

    Discovered the stock firmware.
    GT-I9100_INU_I9100XWKL1_I9100ODDKL1_I9100DDKL1.tar.md5

Its got 2 files, one marked kernel.

on the SGS2, it gives me one of the 2 screens,
    a Cellphone - Exclamation - PC
and another screen with a SGS2 Logo and a Yellow Triangle with a exclamation.

I wouldnt say am frustrated, but just too scared, not wanting to brick my phone.

Like you mentioned i could have used a wrong kernel.
Guess i used the closely resembling one

Do let me know what i could do.....

    Thanks in advance.

Buying a jig is one way to get rid of the yellow triangle but could be complicated if you don't know what to do. Are you on Gingerbread or Ice cream Sandwich? If you're on GB rom upgrade to ICS (Staple official ICS rom) and get Triangle Away from market by Chainfire and install .apk through CWM or follow this guide HERE. This way is lot easier and cost less then buying a jig. I got rid of my triangle this way.

NOTE: Triangle Away ONLY work on ICS roms

Have you try to reboot your phone again, sometime it takes more than one boot. If that fails I would a full wipe and read THIS to start over. REMENBER You want to use a rooted kernel that matches the ROM you are currently running. It pretty hard to brick your phone unless you're messing with bootloader.
