Hey guys, is the HTC Supersonic is eventually coming to Verizon?
Well it's supposed to be going to Sprint and Spint is CDMA.
It would make sense, since Verizon is also CDMA.

Are you looking to belittle the poster or actually trying to help him. There are many who don't use english as a first or even second language. It wouldn't hurt to cut someone some slack.

Mancuso, I look forward to any android phone coming to Verizon whether or not I plan to get it because it provides more opportunities for increasing the number of android users on Verizon. I am not too excited about any HTC phone being on Verizon given their track record with the Windows Mobile phones but I hope that the part of HTC that does android development are better at what they do.

  4. I too have been following the HTC Supersonic and wondered when/if Verizon would get it. I currently have a Motorola Droid and I plan to get the Nexus One the day it releases for Verizon. But if the Supersonic was coming soon to Verizon I would pass on the Nexus One and wait on it.

how would that work? would you cancel your VZW contract, and sell the Droid to get money to pay the ETF?

  6. No I wouldn't cancel my contract. Plus my ETF is still 175 because I bought the Droid before the 350 ETF started. I trade phones all the time. I just sell my current one on EBAY and pay full retail for the new one. No new contract required that way.

Sorry about the grammar guys, I wasn't in the best condition when I started this thread.
HTC Supersonic is supposed to be the Android version of the HTC HD2, with minor changes.

No problems with the grammer at all. I'm sorry the guy was rude to you.

I'm VERY excited about this phone and am on the edge of my seat waiting. Do you know when Sprint will get it? I wan't to actually try it out there to kind of fuel my excitement. I'm on month to month with Verizon and am just waiting for the right phone to come out before using my NE2 and doing another contract.

Putting up with my 6800 till then.

Rumor is that it is coming to Sprint sometime in March. It would run better on Verizon though.

This link here mentions Android 3.0? Either the article is FoS or that was a misprint. Since it is rumored that our n1 would not be useable by Sprint because it uses a different part of the wireless spectrum, is that also possible for Verizon? When Sprint got the Samsung Instinct, I never heard of anyone using it on Verizon. (I also heard that it was a horribly buggy phone so maybe no one tried...)

This would be my dream phone on Verizon. If it does not, then I will see what is available. I'm waiting to see what is announced at MWC.

These are the rumored specs so far:
-4.3 inch display, but web sites aren't agreeing on the screen type. LCD or AMOLED
    -1GHz Snapdragon
    -1GB of ROM
-Its said to have larger battery than HD2 and a have a kickstand on the back.
-The camera is similar to the one used in the Nexus One.
-The Supersonic runs Android 2.1 with Sense UI.

The RAM is unknown, but it's most likely the same as the HD2.

Here are a couple of thoughts relating to the Supersonic...

    The Supersonic will have WiMax
Walmart is rumored to be building an WiMax infrastruction by placing the towers on all of their stores
    Clear is WiMax

Sounds like even without a cell carrier, the Supersonic will be able to do quite a bit...

Make VoIP calls from your local area Walmart? Seriously, you still need to be identified on a network, and Clearwire will not directly cater to your needs. They're a wireless broadand provider and they work with wireless broadband modems. WiMax is not the same thing as wi-fi which any schmuck can log onto. It's a secure network that will require subscription-based credentials to access.

    I have to work?
HA HA! So true, so true.

As far as the supersonic, VZW does not comment or even speculate about forthcoming phones unless someone begging to be unemployed makes a post on a forum or blog while showing pictures, etc.

Will they get it? Who knows. Will they get devices with comparable specs? More than likely.

So while everyone wants the latest and greatest NOW, either people need to be content with what they have and always put off their purchasing decision for the next greatest thing or VZW perhaps needs to be more forthcoming about upcoming devices. I can see VZW not wanting to go down that path because people would postpone upgrades indefinitely based on a perceived need they have.

Don't worry, be happy! And get the best device at the moment that works for you! Who cares if your web browser opens 4 nanoseconds faster than on another device. If 'your time' is that important to you, then I have a feeling there is nothing in this world that would completely satisfy you and meet your needs.

Hardware wise, the Supersonic TECHNICALLY can be brought over to Verizon. Why? Well the WiMax chip being used in the Supersonic is supposedly the Beceem BCS500 which is a chip that supports BOTH wimax 802.16e/m (sprint) AND 3GPP-LTE (Verizon mid 2011). However, I doubt this will happen this year because Verizon doesn't even plan to go live on LTE until mid next year. By then, there will already have a lot of other 4G phones and Verizon (as usual) will have a step ahead of 1.5Ghz powered phones. I just don't see Verizon getting a version of the SS anytime soon unless they decide to just sell it under a different name and say that it will also support LTE next year. It would just have a chip sitting in there using 3G until LTE goes live.

See, the thing with CDMA phones is that even if a phone is available on a rival CDMA network, it doesn't mean it will show up on your network because the carrier has to allow it from their side (add the phone to their database)--which is not always the case. For GSM phones, you can just switch SIM cards all willy-nilly and there you go--although not all the features will be guaranteed to work.
