I know there is one of these on the Apps board but I was wondering what your favourite app or apps are on your Desire.

    Mine?

1 - Hancent (free) - So much more customisable and just so much better than the stock sms app. I particularly like setting a different colour icon for people, meaning I know who has text me without looking.

2 - Thinking Space (free) - Mind mapping app, I find it really useful for many things, especially when I can take down ideas when I am on the move and can't access my PC.

3 - Bebbled (free) - A great little time wasting game, I have wasted many an hour on this one.

Estrong File Explorer (just simply wonderful to share files over WiFi with my PC)
    3g Watchdog
    Rockplayer (Divx support)
    Battery Indicator
    ColorNote

    In no particular order ...

    Aedict (Japanese dictionary)
K-9 Mail (would be better if they would put threaded conversations in already >.<)
    Epicurious (a little buggy, though)
    WorldDroidCup (for now, at least)

It's not an app, but Swype is pretty awesome. Just wish they'd open up other languages to test...

I've just downloaded estrong and it's good but I've already got astro and there's only gonna be enough space for one file manager my phone! They're both good and the difference is in personal preference really but I want to know how to use the WiFi transfer on estrong? What do I do? Can't astro do it? I'm still deciding..

Not sure if Astro can do it but Estrong over wifi :

Share a folder on the Pc,
Run Estrong and change the drop down on the top right to LAN
Press MENU then +NEW, Server, enter the IP (or in my case the Computer name of the PC), tick anonymous if you have allowed anon sharing on the PC and then hit OK.
It should now show your share on the Pc.
You can now copy, past, cut etc etc between the device and Phone

    Or see the FAQ

    EStrongs

Just had a look and i think you need the Astro SMB Module (Market) to do it. Had a quick play with EStrongs and i prefer it to Astro, so i'm removing astro now.

Hi, I am using Windows 7 PC and I am not able to see any file of PC. When I put down the IP address of machine, and click on it, on mobile it says "Loading, Getting file list" and nothing happens.

    Any tips..?

Just d/l handcent, and looks good, but got a question.

How do you set different contacts as different colours? Played with some settings and looked in faq but no joy...

    Thanks!

In Handcent got into a message from one of your contacts and in the top right hand corner there is a settings button.

Hit that and it will bring up the personalization menu, hit notification settings and you will see notification icon. Hit that then pick an icon.

Once you have done that, everytime that contact sends you a text, that is the icon which will appear in the notification bar.

Awesome app thanks... Other cool apps I can recommend:

Battery Time Lite - battery meter with widget and estimates of usage time remaining for different categories (surfing, music etc.)

aTrackdog - let's you know when there are updates for installed applications (belive this is automatic on Froyo)

    MixZing - music player

Process Manager - Manage processes (kill all or individually) and uninstall apps

Wifi Analyzer - Cool app to determine best channel to set your router on and also signal level

Handcent SMS (free) - excellent replacement SMS app that has brilliant SMS popup reply window, just got updated too!

Swype (beta, free, not an app) - really intuitive, probably best when used at a desk or something but when mastered allows for really quick text input

FxCamera (free) - doesn't offer as many as others however you get 4 additional camera modes and all work really well

Snesoid Lite (free) - at the moment i only have the free one but have just got Final Fantasy III and at the moment the in game saving is working, however if it stops i have no problem buying full version!
