New version 2.5 is out!

Have you tried it, what do you think? Do you have any questions?

dxTop: dxTop : Android Home Alternative

I am using dxTop and like the features. It has 4 screens and you don't have to go though one to get to another. It always works like this left is left, right is right, up is home and down is 4th screen.

You can also put 5 icons on the bottom which appear in every screen. Has a built in task switcher/closer as well.

You can change icons, rename shortcuts, pick a larger font, adjust the transparency of the font background and color of font.

You can categorize your shortcuts just like App Organizer.

All my widgets work fine.

My home screens:

Update: Disable persistent mode for the best lag free performance!

Its the only desktop app that doesnt crash for me. Only wish is a way to get a few more screens. The AP bar does help though.

Love it, my bro tried the cube one, and I love mine better.
Swiping any direction always gives you the same screen, so left is always the same screen, down is always the first home screen, etc. Good themes, fast, rotates the home screen. The developers seem to be on top of things too, I complained about a loud click when unlocking the home screen and the next day they had a fix.

I had a problem with dxtop slowing my phone down, scrolling between the screens was choppy and sometimes the pages woulldn't load it's icons.

You can also choose to use the Droid default unlock screen!

It lagged a lot. It was too slow for me so I removed it. However, I really like Home++. It's a lot better than any of the other desktop replacements out there.

just caught this thread..paid my 3 bux...I like it, it's not choppy on my phone, really responsive and I'm pretty sure I'll keep it.

i paid, tried to get used to it but it never really "took control" sometimes i would have to swipe twice to unlock the phone, and it seemed a little laggy...just my experience!

it is now uninstalled

Its takes a little time to tweak just right and understand all that it does, I use the Droid default lock screen setting.

i bought it on the strength of this thread after trying many other laggy, buggy, crashy home replacements.

i absolutely love dx. no problems whatsoever. WELL worth the $3.

if it's laggy, try going back to your home screen and removing widgets before switching to dx permanently. with other home replacements, i read (not sure) that they run as a layer over the default home screen, so you may have *two* copies of each widget running now.

i removed all them from the start, so i can't say if that contributes to the lag or not.

Is there a way to get back to the original home screen one you have selected dxtop as default?

My four home screens in dxTop

what's Mixer? is that the same as AudioManager Widget? I can't find Mixer in the store and if it's an EQ program i would absolutely love to install it!

thanks for sharing - i love seeing other people's home screens.

edit: also, what's the SMS widget on your last screen? :)

1) It is Audio Manager I changed the name so it would fit with my larger font size.

2) It is Beautiful Widgets 2

Let me know id anyone wants my speakerscreen wallpaper. I will post it here.

Awesome! Now that I have another home screen I'm going to install Beautiful Widgets 2. Was out of space before :)

Are you able to rename icons by modifying something in the apps' apk files? Or did you have to install an app/use part of dxTop for that? I haven't had the time to fully explore dxTop's power yet.

Just long press the icon and the options for rename and other will appear.

Quick question that has not been clearly addressed about widgets on dxTop:

Will the built in 2.0 widgets like the "Power Management" bar and Calendar work?

What about 3rd party widgets like MotoTorch?

If so, I'm really thinking about giving it a try. Looks to be fast and sleek with just enough added functionality :)

I have not seen any of the usual widgets not work.

That's what I get for asking before trying...that's really easy and obvious :) Thank you! That's a HUGE feature for me.

malklavious: I also have been able to use the default widgets with no problem, one of which is the music player widget and another is the power bar.
