Help Youtube app - how to get landscape view without turning on screen rotation?

doubleUTF

Lurker
So I normally leave landscape mode off for various reasons. However, I watch youtube videos sometime with the native Youtube app. When watching videos in portrait, I can't seem to find an option to manually make it "full screen", ie change to landscape. I don't want to turn on screen rotation just to be able to watch youtube videos. Is there any way around this? OR have I just missed an obvious option somewhere? If not, I think it's really dumb that there isn't some button I can click to manually make it landscape.

Aside from the screen rotation checkbox in Settings/Display, there is a screen rotation widget button on the notification dropdown ribbon. I have found that to be a quick way to enable landscape on the rare occasion that I want it, and the rest of the time I use that same button to turn it off.

I guess I am spoiled. The only thing I do NOT want to rotate, is the launcher (Home screens and app drawer). Using Go Launcher instead of touchwiz, I turn off rotation in the launcher instead, leaving me free to rotate whatever else I want to.

Recently I got the S3 and one thing I notice is that the YouTube app is missing the time line anyone else has this issue? My Sister has the S4, she has the time line. My Old triumph does too.

In the new version, the timeline is not displayed while in landscape mode. To view the timeline, rotate the screen :)
The reason why your YouTube app doesn't show the timeline in landscape mode while the other phones do is probably because the other phones have not updated YouTube to the latest version.

There is a thread about this already located here: http://androidforums.com/samsung-ga...ape-view-without-turning-screen-rotation.html

I will move these posts over there to tidy up the forum. Hope this helps :)

You can easily do this with tasker.
