Hi guys,
I bought SGS i9000 (DXJF4, unlocked SIM) about two days ago. The first time I ran the phone, everything is working normally. I can watch YouTube through my wifi router without problem.
But after installing some applications (Yahoo Messenger, Facebook for Samsung, Tumblr, TweetCast), YouTube app failed to launch. Accessing YouTube from Google giving me a "your device is not supported" message. Uninstalling those apps was not helping either, still can't play YouTube.
Despite the phone is being recognized by Win Vista (32-bit, UAC off), I still can't connect to the phone using Samsung Kies. My i9000 will go nuts and Kies is trying to connect to the device forever. All drivers were installed without problems though, and in Device Manager I see no problem at all. I can connect to the phone using USB mass storage.
Now, the funny thing is, if I "root" the phone using "One Click Lag Fix", YouTube app can run normally, but I can't connect to the phone using "USB mass storage". Kies does not working still.
Any idea why the YouTube app is failing to launch?
Also, this Kies problem is worrying me. I understand that upgrading the firmware using Samsung Kies is the easiest method. Since I'm a newbie in Android arena, easy is good, and I don't have the confidence to upgrade the firmware manually. Actually, "rooting" the phone is quite scary for me
