Help YouTube substitute for a 7 year old phone?

I was recently forced by my carrier to upgrade to a new phone.

I have had the above phone, happily, for 7 years. I decided to keep it for a gym phone since my gym has good WiFi. All was well and good for a few weeks until YouTube refused to play, telling my version of their app was too old and there were no newer versions for my phone.

I tried several versions of NewPipe and NewPipe-Legacy, but all had bad bugs on my old phone ( works fine on my new phone ).

Is there a YouTube substitute app that will work on my 7 year old phone?

A better browser for youtube, besides the app can carry out so much..

You know which browser I would recommend, lol.

https://f-droid.org/en/packages/acr.browser.lightning/

Copy this link into your clipboard:

https://m.youtube.com/

Then, in the browser settings:

(three dot icon, upper right)
Settings
General Settings
Homepage
Webpage
(delete what is there)
(paste the above link and save)

Now the browser will always open with Youtube.
Sign in, be sure that you set the browser to allow cookies, and it will basically be a Youtube app.

Thank you so much!

I installed Lightning and set it up.

I don't have WiFi at home, so I will have to wait until Wednesday morning at the gym to give a try.

I am looking forward to it.

I liked that ad block is included and that I could choose my search engine.

Glad you like it.
You can use it as a normal browser if you like.

It is extremely fast and is secure (settings dependent).

If you like, save that Youtube link as a bookmark for easy access.
