Help ZTE Grand X Max+

My phone has Lollipop 5.1.
Owner's manual is for Snapdragon 4.4.
Manual states to press screen and choose Lock
or Home screen wallpaper.
Have a Wallpaper tab and that's it.
Also, keyboard icon not visible in notification bar
when using SMS app. Is this all related to upgrade?
