Hi!

I am looking for a reliable solution to keep my contacts in sync with Thunderbird and my (planned) DROID-mobile. With my old Symbian-phone I am using the Funambol-services and SyncML - which works very well.

I tried to import all my contact details to Google-contacts now. But unfortunately Google does not provide own fields for street, zip and city but a single address field only.
Is this the same for the DROID/Android2 - or are there fields for zip and city also?

Do you have any recommendations how to handle this?

I noticed that the development of Funambol client (SyncML) is stalled. So there is no chance to synchronize the DROID by SyncML, correct?

Best regards, Jens

It's wierd, Google contacts only has one big box for address but android has seperate fields for address, city, zip, state. All of my contacts were in Google first and synced to my Droid. You can only tell those fields are there and not filled in when editing the contacts. The addresses still display fine and work correctly in Navigation and Maps.

It just shows home little the Android team and other Google teams interact with each other.

As for syncing contacts with Thunderbird, try the addon in the article - Sync Gmail Contacts with Thunderbird

Also if you didn't know there is a calendar addon for thunderbird called Lightning and can sync with Google calendar using the "Provider for Google Calendar" addon. Works really well for me getting the 2way sync between my phone, Google and my Computers.

BirdieSync easily synchronizes Android contacts with Thunderbird. All address fields are kept separate (one field for the street, the ZIP code, the country, etc.) and are properly synchronized between Android and Thunderbird.
You don't need to have a Google account for that. The connection is direct between the PC and the Android device (USB, Wi-fi or cellular)
BirdieSync can also synchronize your calendars in Lightning or Sunbird.
You'll find more information on BirdieSync web site.
