Help Does auto brightness really kill ur battery much faster ?

I'm trying auto brightness out while at the beach bc I can't see the screen unless I use auto brightness. The screen looks great but I'm wondering if auto brightness will drain ur battery more than manually changing the display ? I figure its a battery saver in some way bc In low light situations the auto display will dim the screen to the appropriate level ? Any thoughts ?

If you're in a bright place, it'll eat up more battery because it turned the screen up. Not much, but it will use more. Still be less than leaving it at a higher brightness setting all the time. What I do is leave it on auto, then switch to full when playing a game or something. On auto I never have trouble reading it in direct sunlight.

Thats a good idea. my only worry is that it doesnt lower the brightness enough when the lighted environment is low and requires very little backlight, i dont want to overdue it and have the phone give off more light than it needs to, therefore wasting more battery. I used to just keep it at 40% all day and night but i'm finding anywhere in a well lit area, i can't see a thing unless i put brightness to auto, or turn up brightness very high.
