iPhone4 Signal fault

I would just like to add that the iPhone 4 drops signal completely when its held by the edges at the bottom, not just by a bar or so like shown here.

It's a huge issue with what would otherwise be a surprisingly good iPhone re-work.

Holding my Desire in various natural positions hasn't affected signal whatsoever when I've been using it. What Jobs has been saying is a massive excuse, they should have just recalled it early on...

What's this thing about it being a "Left handed person" problem? I keep seeing it stated but I don't understand it.

I'm right handed and always hold the device in my LEFT hand to use it so my right hand can navigate the screen controls. I quite often hold the phone in my left hand when using it to make calls too since I used my right hand to dial the number. If I had an iPhone 4 this issue would be a problem for me. I would say it's more of a problem for right handed people for exactly this reason!

For ****s sake people! Any time an iphone is mentioned, it turns into an argument!
Raging I posted here earlier on now. I thought it'd be a laugh, but it becomes a pain in the hole! There's about 50 other posts in here about the bloody thing!
I wonder if I went to an iphone forum there would be people moaning about the desire. No, because they're all praying to steve jobs and convincing themselves there is no signal problem!

I made the video because a lot of people were claiming that other phones do not drop signal when held.

In a situation where signal is poor, it is entirely possible that holding the phone in a natural position could cause the phone to suffer from reduced signal quality.

It is almost far more likely to be far easier to replicate with 3G, seeing as this uses a shorter wave length.

sorry but this video was just stupid, first of all n normal person would hold their phone in that way, plus your signal only dropped a tiny bit. With the iPhone it happens within seconds of holding it in the correct way and it totally drops. So comparison there is a fail.

Had a play with my mates Iphone 4 today. I didn't like it!. Felt heavy and clumpy. Screen was nice but didn't look real (sounds weird i know!) I am right handed, so held the phone in my left when i was using apps, trying the phone out etc, it lost all its bars within 15-20 secs. He had a horrible black plastic bumper case for it which made the phone look very ugly but stopped the signal dropping out. He was not keen on it and he is an Apple fan boy. His partner prefers her 3GS and so does he. But his obsession with the latest Apple gadget is making him keep it. definitely sticking with my Desire. Glad i didn't wait to see the Iphone 4 before getting my Desire :)

first the iPhone is left in a bar and now the bars leave the iPhone.....oh, the irony.
lol.

Anandtech has a great review about the signal issue. Basically, while all phones can suffer from this problem, it's significantly worse on the iphone4 because the antenna is exposed.

Also, for all those talking about how the phone is held when you use it, imo the biggest problem for most people would be using the net, rather than making calls.

As for people being gleeful about the iphone issues, I can certainly understand it. The iphone is more than just a peice of technology, it's also a fashoin accessory. Those who have iphones often look down on those who do not. It's not so surprising really.

When they announced iPhone 4 I thought then that there would be an issue with it due to the antenna being external & boy is there an issue!

I was going to upgrade to an iPhone 4 I've had the 3 previous handsets and despite it lacking some basic functionality it did the job for me & I was happy with it but this new iPhone 4 isn't for me & this is why I'm looking at other handsets.
