O2 Settings

Hi,

O2 have sent me the settings for 'Mobile Web' and 'GPRS WAP & MMS'.

I have entered them for mobile web and all is well - I can now get a data connection when away from wi-fi when I couldn't before.

However, I still can't send or receive picture messages so have also entered the settings for GPRS WAP & MMS but I can't seem to select it ie there is a green dot against mobile web under APNs but it doesn't also let me select it against GPRS WAP & MMS.

Is it the case that I only need GPRS WAP & MMS ie this gives me data connection and picture messages? In other words if I delete the settings for mobile wap I will be able to select GPRS WAP & MMS and all will be well?! I've got an O2 pay monthly smartphone SIM

TIA

Is it a brand new SIM or one you have had for a while? You may need to ring O2 and get it activated on your account if its new. MMS seems to be hit and miss with O2 at the moment with me. It seems to be behaving though.

It's a SIM I've had for ages. Annoying thing is it worked fine on my previous Desire handset about a month ago.

What's the difference between 'Mobile Web' and 'GPRS WAP & MMS'??!

The mobile web should have a dot and the MMS shouldn't. Its whatever is in the last setting "apn type" which dictates this. My mobile web is set as default. This said, when I set it up manually, i could never get it to work and had to switch between to do either thing.

I rooted my phone recently and put a new rom on. It auto entered the settings on set up when choosing "O2 post pay" so if all is lost, maybe a factory reset will help?

Cheers fellas. I've now got GPRS WAP & MMS selected and get a data connection no problem but still not sending or receiving picture messages.

Annoying but not a biggie. Would still like to know what the difference is between mobile web and GPRS WAP & MMS. The name of the latter suggests that's the one to use if you want picture messages!

I've just tried several times to save a new MMS APN to enable me to use MMS on my PAYG Desire, despite selecting 'save APN', every time, it still won't save it.

Using a O2 SIMplicity SIM - Web & MMS Settings - AVForums.com

Did you solve it? Phone O2 on 202 from your phone, then options 2, 1 and 3 - that'll get you through to the technical department who actually know what they're talking about. Turns out customer services had been sending me the wrong settings for my handset .

You'll probably want to be able to go through the settings while on the phone though so from a landline call 08702 410 202 and ask to be put through.
