Hi guys,

Blackberry user for the last 6 years. Just left the Storm & received my DInc today!

A friend of mine sent me a mms with a sound file attached that I want to use when receiving text messages. I clicked the message & saved the file but cant seem to locate it anywhere. Anyone know how I can locate this file & set it as my default text sound?

Thanks for the help,

Kyle

I had the same problem with my htc hero when i downloaded a ringtone. finally i found it in the music app, pressed the menu button and selcted 'set as ringtone'.
Since this is for texts though, you'll probably have to connect the phone to the computer and locate the sms notifications folder and put it in there, then it will show up.

Thanks for the reply. I did find it in the music folder just like you stated, & yes I can only set it to ring-tone. Looks like I will be playing around with it a bit more.

I have a question about the Gmail icon as well if anyone knows.. On my BB I used to get a small star in the corner of the gmail icon whenever I got a new email. This does not seem to be the case with the Inc. I will get the mail notification on the very top of the phone, but never in the icon itself.

Am I doing something wrong here & is there a way to change it? Thanks!

Do I have to get this app to get pop-up notifications for gmail? Currently, all I'm receiving is a notification sound and a quick 'new email' flash in the task bar at the top. If I don't have my phone on or I don't look that very second, I don't even see the 'new email' in the task bar. I figured there would be some way to get a notification (like a text message) to go straight to the new email. No?

I'm not worried about seeing how many messages I have. Just want to be notified when I do have one.

Your only getting a flash that there's a new email? The "M" icon doesnt stay in the notification bar? If not go to settings and check "Email notifications" box.

Haha, totally missed that, I've got the M. Guess I was just expecting a text message like pop-up. Now if I could just get my mail to show up without having to refresh 90% of the time I'd be all set. Auto-sync is checked and gmail account is set to enable IMAP. Thanks for the help :)

Which facebook app are you using? Android or HTC? I'm using Android and get my notifications in the notification bar.

How do I tell what app Im using cause I have no idea lol.

I do get the FB notification on the top of the phone however with my BB it would push through to the app icon & show a * in the corner. It would also bypass the email notification when sent to the app. The Inc still sends the email. Hopefully you understand what Im trying to say :)

Also, on another note.. I saved a sound file that came through via email last night & cant for the life of me seem to locate it on the phone. It says that it saved on the SD Card. Any idea how to locate the file & set it as a ringtone?

Thx Again
