Ok so this phone from the get go has given me problems. I sighned up to be on sprint due to verizons high bills and man o man having major issues. First of all the phone came with android 1.5. Tried to fix it so went and downloaded the sprint updater that was suppose to have android 2.1. Now the phone is stuck at the downloading screen and it says at the top cannt find jpeg or png. So I'm guessing its bricked now I cannot get windows to recednize its there. I have tried installing the drivers for it but now it won't connect. So far two days and I have a bricked non working phone. Geez the motorola droid was soooo much easier to upgrade and root. Lol. Help me.

Just throwing this out for a PSA: calling something 'bricked' is supposed to mean it has suffered damage making it like a paperweight or a brick. dropping your phone in water and it never turns on? Bricked. OS locking up and requiring a re-flash? Not bricked. If your phone was bricked, you'd need a new one. Let's not confuse terminology :)

Is this phone knows to have "epic" issues. No pun intended. The weird thing is when I used sprint samsung moment updater it flashed the phone back to 1.5, and now it won't get past the download screen. Can't even use it. Was this phone not worth it compared to the motorola droid???

I am on the 30 day thing to try it out. What's a good android phone to go with??? This phone doesn't seem worth it with the usb problems and even though it has a 800mhz processor it seems soooo slow
The Moment's as good as any until the EPIC is released. You probably would have done better getting an EVO instead of the Moment this late in the game, but you might want to just take it back within the 30 day and wait for the EPIC which should come out soon.

I wanted the evo but as you all know finding one of those is all luck lol. I am running a motorola droid rooted and using bugless beast with sprecovery. I know the samsung moment has the stock rom but with a custom rom doesn't that speed it up??? I tried and played wave blazer and boy its sure laggy compared to my droid which is clocked at 550 mhz. Does a custom rom speed it up to what the 800mhz should be???

Different phones = different phones. Is the 2.1 update available OTA now? Why didn't they just install it for you before you left the store? If you want help (rooting), your best bet is to go over to the SDX forums and read the super guide and all the other helpful threads before you try to dive in, no offense...

My phone was a night and day difference after rooting and I'm so much more satisfied with it now than when I bought it.

oh ok sweet. my only question about that is to do any kind of a exchange don't I have to go to the original store where i bought the moment...which was the mall in Springfield, mo. How would that work?
If I were you, I'd still try to hold out for the EPIC. Since you are still with another provider, I'd stick with them until Sprint releases.

Those are different types of CPUs, you can't just look at the mhz. The Droid CPU is faster than the Moment CPU and the Droid has a better GPU. The Moment is pretty crappy for games.

Are you kidding? The Moment has a broken modem, small low res screen and a slow outdated CPU/GPU and you think a custom ROM makes it as good as an Epic? And thats ignoring all the other features the Epic has.
Not at all. All I'm saying is that for the time being, My Moment is very stable and I don't need to be in a rush to get the EPIC when there's already talk of the next great thing coming in 2011. My upgrade isn't until Nov anyhow. We'll see then what's happening.

I agree, my Moment is incredibly stable and smooth by using a custom Rom. Personally I don't have problems with the data connection but thats just me. I don't want to rush and be an early adopter, my contract also ends in November but Im going to wait it out to see what else comes out and see how the Evo and Epic survive under a extended period of use by the android community. Im happy with the moment right now, it meets all my needs and then some (like running windows 95 hahahh coolest trick ever!!!) :D
