Help Why LauncherPro?

I don't really understand the benefits either. I much prefer Sense and I think the only advantage of LauncherPro is that home screens can be viewed in landscape.

It's great if you don't have sense (I put it on my boyfriend's Ally and he loves it) but I really believe that Sense gives an overall better user experience in terms of visuals, usage, and widgets.

Alrighty, I was curious as to what the point of the program is? I see so many people using it, but why?

It replaces the "launcher" on the bottom part of the phone. Where it normally has an arrow, phone, and then i forget what the last part is, it now has 5 spots, with 4 being for shortcuts, and one spot in the middle for launching the applications.

The launcher bar on the bottom is also scrollable, so that you can add even more shortcuts.

It also allows the homescreen to be viewed in landscape.
It basically allows you to change around your home screen any way you want.
The new non free version is also adding the widgets that Sense has. I just prefer the look and performance of it over sense.

Best part, its free for most of the features.

I hate the Sense dock with a passion. LP/ADW have a more customizable one. That's pretty much the debate-ender for me. ADW has that hidden dock, plus LP has the scrollable dock. Basically it gives you a lot more flexibility. Then there's the app drawers. ADW has a side-scroller with transparent background, LP has the 3D, both of which are nicer to use than stock.

Nothing huge, but better.

I'm pretty sure people like it because of the customizable toolbar at the bottom with about 5 options opposed to Sense which is 'program list >< phone >< add widget/folder/program'.

Using an APP as my UI makes me nervous in terms of force closing or a bad update, etc.. but seems like most people don't have this problem.

It does not save battery and it is not faster.

Don't forget that you can have 5 rows of icons instead of the usual 4.i also like to hide the notification bar. I also like the 3d app drawer. You can customize everything about it.you can even control the speed of all transitions.

I hate the way the dock at the bottom on sense screens look and I don't need htc widgets so LP is perfect for me

I find it runs a lot smoother than Sense does.

I LOVE having 5 customizable buttons on the dock instead of being stuck with Sense's 3 buttons (which IMO are large and ugly). With LP, I can change the functionality of each one of those 5 buttons to anything I want (even the app drawer button, which I don't need on the dock).

I like having 7 homescreens instead of 5.

With LP, FolderOrganizer and some icon packs I can fully customize my phone for my tastes. Now my phone is truly unique to me, it doesn't look like anyone else's.

I downloaded LauncherPro 3 times before it stuck with me. The first two times I just didn't feel like setting up homescreens for it, so I looked at it, meh'ed, and uninstalled it. However, after I gave it some time and set things up simlar to how I had them set up in Sense, I love it. I actually cut down the number of homescreens I use (7 to 5) since a lot of the stuff that I use regularly I can put on the scrollable launcher bar.

Sure, it's not for everybody, and the functionality is all personal preference, but I certainly like it.

Folder Organizer is like Apps Organizer except FO has a paid version.

Sorry not trying to support Apps Organizer or bash Folder Organizer but I am a huge advocate of free.

There are some important differences. Apps Organizer only deals with apps, while FolderOrganizer can do apps, contacts, shortcuts and bookmarks.

Folder Organizer also has 3 different sizes for your widgets.

Both apps are made by the same dev, Folder Organizer is basically just App Organizer with added features. And it does come with a free option that is simply ad supported.

If you just want to do apps, go with App Organizer for free. But if you want to do more, FolderOrganizer is awsome.

Pretty much what jamor said.

Its all preference. I've tried it twice and went back to Sense. I'm already used to it, its stable (Launcher Pro has crashed on me more times the little time I've used it), and I like the HTC widgets. Not to mention the next OTA update for Sense is supposed to come with even more HTC widgets. I know now with Launcher Pro paid version, you get HTC-like widgets, but Sense has worked for me and I've already populated all my home screens just the way I like it. Too lazy to go into LauncherPro and restart everything.

This. Biggest thing for me was the ability to put folders inside of folders. Can't do that with AppsOrganizer. This allows me to have a master folder as my main launcher button, which contains all of my subfolders. I'm also anal about organizing my apps.

Oh ok ok, I didn't pay that much attention because apps organizer did everything I wanted.

Either way back on subject, Launcher Pro is great imo because the Sense thingy bob on the bottom is so intrusive. It takes up alot of space which no widget can compensate for. I liked the sense widgets but overall it wasn't worth having.

Why not LauncherPro? Well the sense widgets are the only thing I can really think of as they cannot and will not be used with LP.

Since it's free and you can freely switch between home launchers it's worth a try to see if you might like it better for it's customization over Sense and it's different cosmetic appeal.

Personally I favor it for 2 reasons over sense (and sense is great btw): 1st I like minimalistic simplicity and 2nd I like that the phone doesn't take a hit on performance or battery life by changing. At first try on android I had all the widgets up 7 screens etc but it's so redundant imo. With LP and folder organizer (both free) I choose to use 2 screens. All those widgets, while pretty and slick to show friends are really just eye candy. This is what makes Android and it's community so great...freedom!!!
