I purchased this case today from Best Buy thanks to member Darkhan who turned me on to it. I will give a review in my own humble opinion, but it worked for me and with this case I was able to use it with my car dock (with modding to the nub on the dock itself).

Material and Feel: For anyone that has used a Seidio Innocase or Incipio Feather Lite, the feel is the same. It is plastic with a "painted" on rubber, but it did not come off with the scratch test to an inconspicous spot. It is thin and thinner than my Incredible Innocase II. It is not as thin as an Incipio, but I used their products on my Blackberry's and them coming out for something that's doesn't end in Pod is very unlikely any time this year. It's got a nice "grip" to it, but not so much that it won't slide in/out of a pocket with ease. It also doesn't have that "greasy" feel like gel cases get with minimal use. It's light and has 6 snaps for front to back (1 each on top/bottom and 2 each on sides). Was a little difficult to get apart, but that was what I was hoping for in case of drop. Another thing missing was any type of material on the inside of the case. This might not be a big deal, but just an FYI. I doubt most do anymore and know that I think about it, my Innocase II did not.

Ports: Ports are easily accessible, as well as the buttons (volume, power & camera) and the mic/speakerphone area is free of covering. This is also the one down side to the case. The open port for the HDMI/USB ports is exposed to reveal the corner of the phone where a lanyard can be attached. I'm not going to go in to my lanyard rant for a phone this big, but it does leave it open and if you have luck like me, that's the first portion of the phone that hits the floor (you pick the style of floor). It does have enough width that it keeps the camera lens from being flush to the case, as well as the buttons and ports on the phone. The one thing I liked about this case vs the Amzer was the opening for the speakerphone/mic area on the back of the phone. There was a little design to it and not such a huge square over the opening. That's just a little minor thing tho.

Pricing & Product Info: It's $24.99 at Best Buy and a little hard to find. Best Buy SKU is 1048743 and the Model # is RF-WR700. Again, your best bet is to call around to local stores if you have that option. I do think this is a high priced case, but the value in being able to use it in my dock was worth it for me. I think it should be priced along the Amzer case, but.....

Side Note: I bought this case because of it's width (or most lack thereof) so that I could use it with my car dock. I did mod my car dock by Dremmeling off the nub on the other side of the dock insert (which can be removed - the insert I mean). I saw another that got really in to the mod, but I'm not that guy. In fact, I don't like doing mods to my stuff, but will do them on other peoples. :) The case fits snug in the dock, but the arm bar over the top does not come fully down. However, it did not move around in the dock when I was on the road. I just used it for a little while, so I'm not sure how long that lasts or if something is coming down the road. It does charge so it was obviously seated far enough down on the USB plug.

Sorry I'm not much for reviewing, but it's a start. Pictures were taken with an Incredible and lighting in my place isn't the greatest, so I'm also sorry for the quality. Just wanted to at least give a snapshot of what it looks like with the case on, how thick it is and how it sits in the dock.

Best wishes and happy hunting (if that's what you're going to do). Peace.

UPDATE: Big THANK YOU to member ROB98374 for updating this page with the links to Best Buy's website. At the time of the review, they were not listed. I will include here at the top and they are also below under his post. Thanks again ROB98374!

So you dremeled off the nub that is seen in the third picture? Have any effect on the dock at all?

I've got the rubber case from Verizon and thats the only thing keeping my phone from fitting in the dock

Exactly. Since the insert plate that is also connected to the wall or "arm" of the clamp, I felt safe cutting it off and still being able to use it with the insert plate if I am using the phone without a case.

Any idea what the point of that nub even is? The back of the phone is flat.

Also, i'm assuming that third picture is prior to taking the nub off? You dont happen to have any pics of it post work do you?

My guess is that it's a guide for the insert plate as well as a "support" or "stabilizer" to make up the difference in depth being the side that doesn't have the "hump" like the top of the phone where the camera is.

I like this case, picked one up at best buy today. But I do recommend that you put the case on your phone in the store, the first one I got had a problem with the end clips staying together as previously mentioned, tried a second case and it worked great. I have a feeling that if you take this case off though, those clip swill no longer hold well. As a bonus though, it overlaps the SGP crystal display protector, so no edges exposed on the long sides of the screen.

I used a razor blade and cut that nub out of the car dock. I am guess that Motorola planned to make a case with a cutout for that nub, to help lineup the USB plug on the dock. I find that putting the phone onto the dock with the case, I have to go slow and take care to get that plug to line up.

All in all I like the feel of this case, they had three colors, a not-so-dark blue, a red which was kinda nice, and black. I got the black, I would love to have seen a gradient color like the first incredible cases.

I agree about the clips. I have been lucky in that mine seem to be solid. I also have a Zagg skin on the bottom of the phone and the cover until my SGP gets here. It should line up quite nicely with the case. I have removed the case about 8-9 times since I got it and run my fingernail down the edges and it still has some good resistance with the clips so it would definately be a good idea to "try them out".

As for the dock, I had the same issues until I learned the nuances of the dock vs the phone and once I had the "pattern" it just go right in like a hot knife in butter (did I just use that cliche - oh no).

i only have the black rubber one from verizon as well. a little slippery isn't it???.... the hunt for an excellent case continues

yup...returned it as well. biggest problem was that it blocks the backlight on the hard buttons. i liked that they were covered, but not that i couln't tell which was which.

exchanged for the leather w/kickstand. more or less the same as the rocketfish...not too bulky, grippy, leather is classy, kickstand convenient.

i can live with this one, but i'm keeping my eyes out...

I just read this review.

I then got in my car.

And drove to my local Best Buy

They had about 50 of these things.

If you own a Droid X... then you 100% absolutely MUST buy this case.

It is HANDS DOWN the best case out there for the Droid X.

Trust me I have tried them ALL out.

Thank you for this review!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would have to politely disagree with you about the leather case being the same as the Rocketfish case. The leather case is extremely nice, but no where as thin as this one. The feel is different and the "edges" are higher on the front of the phone. To each his own, but they are definitely different. Also, there is no way that case is coming close to fitting in the dock.

The leather case is for sure a very nice case tho.

That's pretty good and I wish the stores around here had a little better stock, but I got mine, so I'm happy. :)

And you're welcome!

On the back of the case there is a long slit with a circle cutout. What is the reason for the circle?

Also the pics on BB show the speaker to have 3 holes. My DX only has 1. Any one else verify this?

I think they designed the case from an early prototype of the Droid X. (pictured below)
Not sure what the big hole was. Mine also has one speaker hole.

I just picked up the Rocketfish case from Best Buy yesterday after reading this thread and I love it! The silicone one I had from Verizon was good and all but I hated how it seemed to yank out all lint in the furthest depths of my pockets each time I took it out. I'm going to have to modify my home dock now to fit the DX with the case on because I don't want to keep removing/replacing the case for fear of weakening the tabs on the case over time.

After struggling with a few other cases, this one is pretty good. I do think there might be issues if I take it on and off a few times but for now it's working well and I like it alot. It is a little pricey thought.

Yeah, that long cut out in the back is a little strange. I wonder what that big hole in the prototype was for.
