Help Text Messages Question

My wife keeps trying to send me a text message with some kind of signature line. Her messages just show up with only her text message though. Is this an issue with her phone or mine? She has the Google N1.

Is it because I'm just using the regular text messaging that came with the phone or do I need to install some other kind of text messaging program?
