Accessories Powermat for EVO

http://store.androidcentral.com/powermat-home-or-office-mat/5A199A6257.htm

Been looking all over for a powermat to wirelessly charge my EVO and found this one. Now the site has user reviews but its in the form of ratings, no one actually wrote a review. The user reviews were 3 out of 5 stars and when you click on the user reviews out of 31 people 39% gave it 5 stars 39% 1 star and the rest either 4 or 2 so it seems you either love this mat or you hate it.

Anyone actually used this or heard anyone who has and if they liked it? Any reviews on this would be greatly appreciated!

What you are looking at in that link is the universal charger for the PowerMat. Personally, I would wait for one made specifically for the EVO before using that thing.

Well see thats what I'm worried about because it lists saying that it supports the EVO but no reviews are written by people saying ya it does work with it. I have a powermat for my old phone and its one made for a variety of phones just like this mat but just doesnt work with my EVO. But I dont think they would specifically make one JUST for an EVO because they would be limiting themselves as a company to just that demographic of EVO owners. Even the popular Iphone mats support other phones than just those.

That's not wireless charging at all. You need to plug the adapter into your phone, and then put the adapter on the mat. If you've got to plug something into your phone, you might as well plug in a USB cable or charger. It's a heck of a lot cheaper, and requires exactly the same amount of effort.

That's exactly what it is. I went looking into the powermat stuff back when I first picked up the Evo. The powermat company says that it has "univeral" connectors, but in the end they essentially are just the same as plugging your phone into a regular cable... Don't get it unless they actually make a battery/cover for the Evo.

On another note. I have seen DIY videos and reviews about people modding the Evo to work on a Palm Pre touchstone! It's essentially the same technology as the powermat and looks really cool! The only downside that I read in the reports (the main reason I haven't bothered trying it) is that it screws up the compass in the phone... I'm not willing to give that up.

Radioshack is starting to sell an enercell one. It requires you to plug in an adapter, hook another piece up to it..and then put it on mat. Iphone has one that you just put the iphone in the case, and lay it on the mat and it charges right up! If something like that were to come out for the evo, i would pick it up then.
