Root I Rooted, now what?

It'd be okay if you were a unicorn, then they'd be sweet and delicious!

I suggest you also have a look over at XDA. That's where most roms are posted.

Droid Eris Android Development - xda-developers

Overclocking requires a different kernel. If you are looking to remain mostly stock, I suggest you go with Plain Jane. It's stock + a kernel that is capable of overclocking. Once you have that flashed, you'll want to install SetCPU.

[ROM] Plain Jane 2.1 - OTA UPDATE BASED w/ zanfur OC Kernel - xda-developers
SetCPU for Root Users [2.0.2] This *actually* changes everything. 08/02/2010 - xda-developers

Flashing a rom is very simple.
Download a rom and put it on your sd card
Turn on the eris while holding volume up to reboot into recovery mode
Make a nandroid backup in case anything goes wrong or you wish to revert
Wipe Data and dalvik
Choose your new rom under Flash zip from SD card

(also, search is your friend)

I used the one click Root that is available on XDA on my Eris. Now I'm wondering what I should do next.

What is the process for overclocking?

How do I load different Rom's?

What if I don't want my phone to be rooted anymore?

Plain Jane is a good ROM to start with in my opinion, its what I just flashed after rooting 2 days ago. This rom already has everything you need in it to overclock and set up apps to be run from your sd card (a2sd). If you download the plain jane rom, and there is like 3 or 4 other things that the OP wants flashed with it, ie, bloatware remover, something to disable ota update, default fonts, and maybe something else. You will need to follow the op's instructions to partition your sd card if you want to utilize the a2sd, I believe this needs to be done before flashing the rom, at least thats what I did. Down load all to your computer, then move them all to your sd card. Reboot holding vol up and power. It will prompt you to choose from your sd card, just use your trackball to scroll down. You will have to flash each thing you downloaded one by one, start with the ROM. To do overclocking, setcpu is in the market and cost's $1.99, just install it from there and then you will need to set up some profile settings. There are varying opinions on what those settings should be. If you need help when you get to that part just ask! I didn't know anything about this 2 days ago, and there is alot to learn. I just jumped in and it was way easier than I expected. Good Luck! :p
