ok ive had my galaxy s for a week now and i luv it. wot an amazing bit of kit.
BUT i have a real problem with battery life, even tho i have wifi and bluetooth off it rinses the battery by mid day. and thats with trying to not over use it ?. its got to the stage where i'm scared to use anything like the internet or play any music on it at all for fear of it running out of battery, ive ordered another battery from ebay, cos im thinking this may be a duff one.
any ideas people pls

Might be useful for you... (unless you have done the below)

But i found changing to 2g saves battery a lot and set Apps like facebook etc to refresh more infrequently.... Lastly turn the display brightness down to the lowest setting. These seem to help me. Failing that im wondering if there is a longer life quality after market battery available. One other thing not sure if you know but go to

settings..... about phone..... battery...... and you can see exactly where your battery is being used

I just dont get it!!

I totally sympathise with you, but i have had NO problems with battery life.

The only thing i have set to off is my GPS, mainly because i dont use it.

However G3 and HSPDA and also wireless are on all day.

I wouldnt describe myself as a particularly heavy user but i had my phone on since first thing this morning and i still have 3/4 of my battery left, it is possible!!

I also use a live wallpaper, and a couple of widgets...

I assure you this is true.

I think network signal strength also plays a role. I live and work in an area with very good 3G coverage (almost always having 3 or 4 bars). And mine lasts a day (15 ~ 20% left at the end of the day) with Gmail , Gtalk, a weather app and facebook widget pulling data periodically over 3G (3.5G / HSDPA mode to be specific). I only had it for 3 days, so I didn’t have enough time to test it under lot of conditions, but I was playing around with it a lot, installing apps, trying out different settings etc. so I’d say my use was above average for those 3 days.

P.S : GPS and Wi-Fi off

mine wasnt bad i was getting from like 7am till 5pm with moderate use then i got that update for fb and it was almost dead by 10.30 am,i know this is mostly that app has issue and needs bit more fixing but i got advanced app killer from the market while they sort it out and with having it set to kill apps when the screen is off ive gotten almost 2 days and im still using it just as much.
