If I return my DX and cancel service within the 30 days, does anybody know what I would have to do to reactivate my AT&T contract provided I already have an AT&T phone?

I wasn't sure if I should post this in the AT&T section, the Verizon section, or here so this can be moved if needed.

Yes, had AT&T for a long time, didn't formally "cancel" just went to Verizon and said port my number for a DX (knowing it would cancel my AT&T service obviously).

The question was, if I return the Droid X and cancel within their 30 day trial how could I go about returning to AT&T?

you NEED to go back to AT&T and start an account and port your number back before you cancel your vzw account. otherwise, you will lose your phone number. when that is done, go back to vzw and return the phone. then you'll just have to pay the $35 restocking fee, and you'll be billed for your usage.

1.If I was you I would stick with verizon since AT&T service is not that great as verizon and they don't have a unlimted data feature

2.You have to pay a fee even if you return the phone within 30 days if I remember right Sprint is the only one that doesn't have a 30 day return fee

It depends on AT&T's policies I assume. You can cancel the Verizon contract and return the phone without early termination fees obviously, (not including the, "restocking," fee) but I personally don't know anything about AT&T as far as this sort of thing is concerned. I know that with Verizon, when you actually cancel an account in any manner, it's gone for good and it can't be retrieved. When my dad and I moved over to another family member's account, we automatically canceled our old one. When that person had to cancel their subscription recently, we had to create a completely new one. They wouldn't even let us bill to our account when I ordered my Droid X because the account was technically newer than six months. The manager of the store attempted to override the computers since we've actually been Verizon Wireless customers for a number of years, but it wouldn't let him.

I recommend visiting AT&T's website or calling them up and simply asking source. They'll probably have a real definitive answer to your question.

trust what i already posted.
your at&t account has been cancelled (provided you didnt have any other lines on the account). if that is the case, just go start a new account, and port your number. it will automatically disconnect your verizon account. at that point, go return the phone to the vzw store. you will, at that point, pay the $35 restocking fee out of your refund, and they will bill you for your usage.

When will people learn service varries by area? Just because where you live does not have good service on AT&T does not mean someone where they live will be in the same boat. Where I live both AT&T and Verizon have the same level of 3G coverage and the speed on AT&T is faster than Verizon.

that is very true. but in general, verizon blows at&t out of the water. it's shocking looking at a verizon 3g map vs. an at&t map. and on top of that, verizon invests approx. $5 billion every year into the network, nearly as much as the other 3 combined.

As better service I meant plans AT&T doesn't support unlimted data

I went to Sprint for the Evo and came back to Verizon in less than a month awaiting the X

As long as you port the At & t number back to them...you should be fine

How exactly do they bill you for your usage?

It should be a pro-rated amount based on what plan you had initiated, plus any other charges you may have accrued if you used any additional services (eg. visual voicemail.)

Like someone else said, you need to go back to AT&T first. They will let you come back for 45 days after termination and they will waive any termination fees that they originally charged you. If you want your number back you MUST go to AT&T and get your service restarted there and the number ported first. Then deal with Verizon. If you go to Verizon and cancel then the number will be gone and you can't get it back without reactivating Verizon and then porting to AT&T which would be a big hassle. The Verizon account must remain active until the number is ported back to AT&T.

My t-mobile contract is coming to an end. They have been great for me since I started back in 04, but I am doing more traveling now and Tmo just does not have the coverage. Don't know which android to get. The Galaxy S, Sony Ex10, or HTC Aria. I know HTCs is a good brand, currently have the mytouch. However, it just seems small compared to the others and I would like a bigger screen. I don't know anyone that has had that good of luck with Samsungs, and dont know anyone that has ever had a sony phone. So... advice??
