I know bits of this has been posted elsewhere, but for people with a Costco membership:

looks like I may have been wrong about no contract price, sorry.

Contract price is $150

Return period is 90 days

Comes with free car charger, case, and extra earbud headphones w/mic

So for everyone holding off wondering if Samsung will really put out updates or whatever, Costco gives you 3 months to wait, rather than one or less buying anywhere else. Assuming you're sticking with AT&T of course... the 30 day get out of contract free still applies.

My family just got our second Captivate yesterday from Costco for a lower than normal price and we have till mid November to return it.

Just some info for anyone on the fence.

It also comes with this free kit:

I went to my Costco yesterday and they weren't carrying the phone .

i never heard of them selling phone off contract - all wireless retailers (non-corp stores) make their money on contract sales - they get $300 to $500 per new subscriber.

Also, the kiosk is not run by Costco, but by a third party - they don't see so many phones that they are going to sell these below cost with no contract.

On the ticket they gave me to take to the register and when they plug it in to the register, it shows up as $330, then they apply a $180 discount bringing it to $150. I figured the first was a non-upgrade price, and the discounted price was for upgrades. If this is incorrect then sorry for any confusion. And yes, the kiosks aren't technically Costco, but they still offer the best return policy I've seen.

Thank you for this post!!!!!
I bought the phone on July 18th at my local AT&T store. Yes, technically it was 31 days yesterday, but I figured...what the heck. I called AT&T and customer service assured me it was 30 days out. They also told me that the store could (could) match the online prices of wirefly and walmart, but I would have to go to the store. Well, I went to the store and the manager told me they cannot (cannot) match the online prices. I told them I wanted to return the phone since customer service told me it was 30 days. Needless to say the store gave me a very, very hard time (31 days and will not price match). I told them to call customer service to verify the infomation.
Long story (sorry) short..the store contacted customer service and customer service gave me $100 credit on my account.
Don't give up!!!! Even if you are passed the 30 days. :)
And by the way, I never pay the $18 upgrade fee. My mom bought an Iphone 4 and was charged the $18. After it appeared on my bill, I called, asked, and had it removed.
