Help The Nightmare Slidey Thing !

Has anybody got another way of answering the phone other than sliding up the awfully designed slidey thing (any apps etc that may overcome this ?) - why they did not design it so you can hit one of the metal buttons at the bottom God only knows. The slidey thing on the X10 is so hit and miss, you try and do it with one hand and sometimes it works, other times not. The iPhone slider is so smooth and easy, but this one is awful in comparison. It is also a bad design that if you want to hang up on call without answering, you have to hit the tiny on/off button on the top of the phone. Nobody can agree that SE have done good with this !:mad:

Am I the only person to have no issues with the slidy thing? One hand operation is fine and the only issue I had was the first time I turned the phone on and thought WTF but soon had it sussed.

I would hate to have the phone answer with a press on one of the hard keys as it would be very easy to answer the call as you took it out of your pocket and I like the fact the power key is the "f**k off button"

But without 2.1 I dont think you can get rid of it?

Swipe thing is easy with a couple mins practise, even with 1 hand. Hell, I even changed the direction so I could use my left hand while carrying something in my right hand.

Some people just whine about everything. Jeez!

The thing that annoys me is how quickly it locks on a call, especially if you are calling a call centre and have to input numbers, meaning unlucky every 2 seconds and your call is longer!

Reading this thread reminds me of the 1st time I used this phone in the shop. It took me about 3 minutes just to get into the phone cos I couldn't slide it properly. Up until then I'd felt quite cocky because I'd seen so many videos and read all about the phone before going in. When I tried to use the app tray, I couldn't use it properly without opening apps I didn't want to, I couldn't get the keyboard to open in the text screen (would help if I clicked on the text box instead of leaving it in the contact box) and couldn't remember how to get back to the home screen.

While I was playing with it, the guy was through the back getting my handset and contract. Suddenly a tiny voice in my head said "hey, this isn't how I thought it would be. Maybe I shouldn't..." But then I remembered the things I'd seen in the videos.

After work that day, when I got to spend a couple hours learning how to use it, I was blown away by how superior it is to the x1 and how much better it is than iphones that I'd seen people use (so glad I stumbled across this cos I considered an iphone for about a day).

Now I know the phone inside out and have customised it a lot (without rooting) and absolutely love it!

i found the slider better than iphone as u can do it by one hand.

if u noticed se has designed the slider perfectly as it moves in a circular motion, so does our thumb.
not in a straight line.

way better than iphone as sometimes in iphone i had to used two hands. not in this case

Totally agree :)

I also have an app called 'no lock' installed that stops the phone from locking. One press to enable and one press to disable ;)

Have finally had enough. Have taken my X10 back to the suppliers for them to check it out. The guy there said they have had more of the X10s being returned for repair than any other phone he can remember ! - While I was there I bought the new Galaxy by itself, no contract, just the phone (have not tried it yet, still charging) - I have also ordered a new iPhone 4 on-line, again, just the phone, no contract. Expensive, but I need to have a good phone that I am happy with and works ! - I will check them all out and keep which one I am happy with, the ones I dont use I will donate elsewhere. May give the X10 to somebody I dont like !

A good phone that works eh? So you've not heard about how, if you hold the iPhone 4 like a normal phone it will lose the signal and disconnect you??? So they had to rush out free phone guards to stop it happening.

I'd rather stick with my X10 which doesn't need work arounds just to be able to make a phone call thank you. Oh, and I also don't have any problems with the slider to answer the call, and I like the fact you can reject a call just by pressing the power button.

Good luck!

Oh well, if the iPhone 4 gives me trouble one of my family or member of my staff gets a free gift and I will move on to another. Dont know until you try. I have tried the X10, it's awful, buy another.....thats the way it goes

Everyone's entitled to their opinion, but the x10i isnt awful, But it does take some getting used to, im a pretty techy person, and it did take me abit, but how can you judge it when it seems like you have barley had it?
As for the salesman saying theyve had more back, again thats probly down to human error rather than an ACTUAL fault.

Ive seen the galaxy, and that works the same as x10 almost, as the software ((other than version)) is the same, so if you couldnt get on with X10 then ull probly not like the Galaxy.
As for the iphone 4 --PAH -- Dont get me started.. Now that is a AWFUL PHONE.

Actually, have had the x10 for about nearly 6 months now. Have tried being patient but patience all but worn out now.
