Accessories Battery...

Good deal, it will be interesting to see if the replacement is better. How long was the transit time on the first shipment?

11 days

Used it again today (hong kong battery) and it didnt die when it hit 30% but once it got to 27% it drained pretty fast and only lasted about 8.5 hours total. Tomorrow im going to call TMo and try and get them to send me a battery too. Maybe il call tonight, i dont know.

and how do you exactly know if its counterfeit?

The ebay counterfeit batteries are made by Wincent Do Electronic. They are located in China. They basically make knock off batteries, and put fake samsung branding on it.

Buy at your own risk.

Also, another way you can know is common sense. Common sense tells you that a real battery manufactured from Samsung won't be selling for 4.95 on ebay.

Some people just dont have common sense, just because it says samsung on it, doesn't mean it is. My sisters friend wanted my sisters $2,500 Christian Louboutin shoes, so she thought she was smart buying them from ebay for 450 bucks. Doesn't common sense tell you, that 2500 dollar shoes selling on ebay for 450 must be fake? Sure enough they arrived, and were total knock offs. 450 down the drain. BTW, it was a USA seller.

Probably are fake but if i can get 10 hours out of those fakes then i have two backup batteries for $3.27. If you want a backup, i guess you will pay $49 to TMo who is sending me another for free. They will be going out of business anytime now i suppose. Thats three free ones from this forum that i know of.

Again, i doubt TMo is paying much for those batteries. Only us in the US get bent over after they buy them cheap overseas.

I also bought a new battery for my Wifes Blackberry on ebay for $9. It came from NY and it works great. That Battery also in TMo was $49....which is where im getting my price gauge from. Ive actually never seen a Samsung battery for our phone in there. Hell it might even be more being it is much bigger than the Blackberry battery. But i did see a battery for the MyTouch there for $49.

Ya I mean for 5 bucks, if you get a few hours worth, then its a good deal. I'm just concerned it might mess up the Vibrant some how.

Also, nothing personal against you. I just think morally and ethically, there is something wrong when people expect free stuff, no matter how cheap T-mobile purchased the batteries for, people feel entitled to getting free stuff. Smartphones are horrible with battery life, this phone has a 4inch screen, 1ghz processor, it is a battery hog. If every vibrant owner had the personal opinion that their battery life didn't live up to their expectations, and called in for a free battery, that would hurt T-mobile, then would trickle down to all consumers. I dunno, I guess there is a point where morals and ethics come into play. If you truely thought your original battery was defected then fine. However, I bet most people calling in and getting free batteries, are just going to end up keeping both, and use both, and both will get the same battery life. I think t-mobile should make you send in your old one, or have you take it to a tmo store and give them the defective one. Again, not saying you are trying to stick tmo in the behind, but I'm sure many people will read this and find it an opportunity to stick it to them.

No matter how cheap t-mobile baught the batteries for, they are in business to make a profit, and customers shouldn't feel entitled to free stuff.
Whatever, to each his/her own.

I hope the new one they send is better than the one i have because it isnt very good imo. Ive done everything they told me to do and it isnt any better. Just hoping it can go into the night before i go to bed without charging it as opposed to having to charge it early evening then again when i go to bed.

I paid $149 each for two Vibrants and now they are .01 at Costco. T-Mobile is doing fine or that wouldnt happen after only a month.

Actually if you read the financial statements for the past few quarters, T-mobile is financially in trouble. Yes, I actually did sit there and read every financial statement they have up on their site recently, I find stuff like that interesting. Their cash on hand reserves are extremely low, pathetically low.

T-mobile USA isn't doing fine, and there are talks that its European parent company may close down T-mobile USA or sale it to sprint.

Also, having to subsidize a phone down to .01 cent is more proof the company is in trouble, and desperately needs new contracts. It doesn't work the other way around. If Vibrant was selling, and contracts were robust, the vibrant wouldn't drop 1 penny below 199.99.

Whatever, I just hope people reading this thread realize that a super smartphone like vibrant will have short battery life. I hope this thread doesn't envite people to defraud T-mobile. I still think they should ask customers to send their defective battery back, to prevent people from making false warrenty claims just to get an extra battery.

One last thing. I know several people with the Vibrant, and they all have to recharge before bed. Same with me, unless everything is off, and I have a black background running, I have to recharge by the time evening rolls around. This is the case with every smartphone i've owned except the BB Bold 9700, that gets great batter life.

Recharging a super android phone several times a day is normal. I put it on the charger every chance I get. I'm up and about 6 am every day, by 2 pm my phone is dead if I don't recharge it. This is just the nature of this beast of a phone. Sure my expectations are a phone battery should last 2 days, but my expections and reality are two different things, my expectations and my opinions don't entitle me to free stuff.

Okay I have to get back to reading. night

Alright, since you said it, I need to respond with one quick statement: Your quote (and Obama's HC reform) is the personification of, "everybody feels they are entitled to something for free". Our govn't doesn't work like Canada, and as such cannot offer a multi-billion dollar yearly cost for free. Doing so would bring us into a worse financial situation than we've ever seen.

Let's take this to to the appropriate thread, if one exists.

NO, feeling you are entitled to something for free is when you have the mentality that T-mobile is making a large margin on battery sales, thus you should be entitled to one for free.

Don't confuse that with healthcare, where people die everyday because they don't have access to antibiotics, vaccines, or early prevention and tests that could diagnose cancer in its early stages. Furthermore, we abandon the mentally ill, turn our backs on them, then the mentally ill end up homeless on the streets, and crime rates increase. Instead of helping to stabilize them, giving them medication, and trying to place them in jobs. At the same time keeping our streets safe.

You are essentially saying that a human being who can't afford healthcare should just rot away and die, because this persons efforts to attain healthcare would otherwise be nothing more than an effort to get something for free? I guess when I'm a doctor and someone comes to me, but can't pay, I should scream "stop trying to get something for free, now go die."

LOL, okay, here we go. Are you going to dispose of it? Or are you happily going to keep both, and use both?

I am going to use the one that works the best. Am i going to throw it away?
No, but if she would would of said send it back, i would of no problem. Just as the battery i bought on ebay. I asked him if he wanted me to send it back to him and he said "No".

However, im not going to carry around extra batteries either so IF i use the extras, it will be when i go someplace that i dont have access to using my charger when i need to. I dont carry my charger around with me either. Having extra batteries i dont consider to be a good thing. The fact that these dont work well is a disapointment.

ya I didn't think you would throw it away. well let us know how the new battery works, it would be interesting to see the results on the new one.

You wouldnt either and if you say you would, i dont believe you. If she would of said send the bad one back in a provided envelope, then that would of been just fine. But if they dont want it, why would i just throw it away?

I just hope the new one works good and ill be very happy if it does because that is my only real issue with the phone.

Okay, ever since the Vibrant came out, numerous people have been complaining about their battery life. Well that is fine, if you feel the battery life sucks, then feel free to complain.

However, what is annoying are people who insist they must have a defective unit or defective battery. Most of these people have probably never owned a smartphone before, and are over reacting. The Vibrant has a 4inch super amoled screen that acts as a battery hog especially when whites are displayed, a fast processor, and fast GPU, so of course you will have to recharge before bed!(depending on your settings and how you use your phone of course).

So, if you are one of these people who thinks your Vibrant is defective, or your battery is defective, and you want to call t-mobile and make them send you a free battery or replacement phone. I say, take a look at this:
Android Battery Test Reveals Droid X Lasts Longest, AMOLED Handsets Trail Now could everyone who thinks they have a defective phone/battery just shut the piper and realize that exchanging your phone is not going to improve your battery life, just like exchanging your phone was not going to fix your GPS.

The Vibrant is not that great when it comes to battery life, so just get used to it. Your phone is not defective, your battery is not defective, ALL Vibrants are in the same boat when it comes to battery life. So if you get anything over 4 hrs of pure use before you need a recharge, consider yourself lucky.

If you want almost 8 hrs of pure battery usage on a single charge, go get a DroidX, otherwise carry a freaking charger in your car, and one next to your computer, and possibly even a spare battery that you paid for.

So I say one last time, if you wake up in the morning, take your phone off the charger, go about your day using your phone, and the vibrant needs a recharge in a few hours, then there is nothing wrong with your phone. IT IS a NORMAL phenomenom with this phone. Yes, even when the phone is not being used, the battery will drain, this is normal too.

Good information Sammy, albeit a little heavy on the dramatic commentary, but this is excellent back up information. I think you made your point.

We have a great mobile device with LOTS of horsepower in both the CPU and the GPU and a beautiful bright display, what did we think, that it would run on solar power?

Good find! Thank you. :)
