Root Recovery Mode Issues

I've just rooted by desire & have been trying to flash my desire but everytime i try to boot into recovery mode, i.e. after selecting recovery, it returns back into fastboot. I would really appreciate any help provided.

Welcome to the forum

Try turning off the phone & romove the battery, replace battery & turn on your phone while holding the volume down button.
See if you can select & boot into recovery now.

I've probably done that a 100 times already, still, to no avail.

which rooting method did you use, read through carefully & see if you missed something.
You may even have to go through the rooting process again.

Does the phone boot if you don't enter recovery?
