exchange between droids?

I don't think this is the right place for this, but I think people here are more capable of answerin my question.

I have a broken screen on my droid and my friend is getting a refurbished droid through his manfacturing warranty. He only has minor problems with his phone and offered to just give me his refurbished droid when it comes. So I was wondering if I would be able to exchange my phone with the refurbished phone while my friend keeps his old one and we would send my broken phone back to verizon. Would that work? Some help would be really appreciated.

If your friend doesn't return the droid that has the serial number or MEID that is on file in his account, he will be charged full retail price of the new droid (plus a fee I believe).

If you have insurance, just make a claim. If not, check ebay and the Android Forums Classifieds: http://androidforums.com/classifieds/. You can usually find a good quality used Droid for about $200.
