BallVenture for Android (sort-of like Bounce for Nokia)

I released my first game on Android (Persian Maze) and would like to know people's opinion on it. Basically its a ball that you can control with your finger (fling it on screen) or trackball (if you have one). The goal is to reach a vortex in each level, and each level introduces new traps/challenges that prevent you from reaching it (harder every level).

Yeah it's sort-of like Bounce but from a top view and it has some very nice 2D graphics.

So would you play it? ;) And what would you change in it?

Hello Pushwall, thanks for your feedback.

So many ppl have told me the same thing about adding accelerometer support... however my response was always that the game uses factors like FLOOR FRICTION (for example, glass floor (level 5 and up) has no friction, which makes the game more challenging because u might fall off of it).. so if i use the accelerometer, floor friction would have no meaning altogether..

plz correct me if im wrong.

thanks again

You're right. I was noticing you need a fast flick of a roll to get through some walls too and also need to stop quickly in some other spots, so the accelerometer wouldn't work so good.

I noticed you have another game called Persian Maze which looks exactly the same,...is it, or are the later levels different? Which one should I buy,...BallVenture or Persian Maze?

Hello Pushwall,

Yes exactly my point about the accelerometer :)

Regarding the game, I changed its name to Persian Maze and I'm sticking to it... (the name BallVenture seemed less attractive)... So please if you are considering to buy, buy Persian Maze instead.

I'll be adding new traps/challenges to Persian Maze soon too.;)

Thank you

Hi Palpoule,

The music, graphics, and of course the mazes fit the title Persian Maze better too. I also like the name Persian Maze better than BallVenture. Okay, I'm off to buy Persian Maze. It's definitely a fun game! I'm looking forward to playing through all the levels and seeing any new traps/challenges you put in the game. Keep that game magic coming! :)

Palpoule, I just read a nice intro article on Persian Maze over at Droid Gamers. Hopefully this will help your game get more recognition and downloads. It certainly deserves it! :)

My suggestion for a future game might be something similar to Paragon that was done by id software as a PC game back in 1991 for Gamers Edge (released by SoftDisk). It's a ball game like Persian Maze with mazes, traps, and challenges, but it's more along the lines of a fast moving pinball moving on a straight line and then you moving the ball off the line to bounce through areas and off walls to collect treasures, but avoiding the traps and obstacles. You have to time your movements and figure out the angles to move the ball through the mazes. Sometimes there may be other bouncing balls too that get in your way to make the game more difficult. It was extremely fun back then and would work perfectly for an Android game.

Thanks a lot for sharing that article's link Pushwall!! it made my day!

I will definitely look into Paragon and hopefully learn for it and/or get inspired for the next updates for Persian Maze and/or a totally new game...

I'll let you know here what I think as soon as I do..

Thanks again:D
