Went to ZZ Top concert last night and recorded some video. The video was ok but the audio sucked. Way over modulated. Even when I record video and am in a quiet setting and just talking into mic it is very over modulated unless I hold the phone at arms length and talk rather softly. Is there a setting I can't seem to find to adjust the mic recording level? I tried the talking while recording video on my Blackberry 9700 and no over modulation even if I have the mic right at my mouth and talking loud. Please help. So bottom line does anyone else have over modulated audio issues when recording video? If not please let me know in case I have a defective phone.

Yep! That's it all right. I just tried recording voice only using the voice recorder and same thing way over modulated unless the phone is far from my mouth and I talk softly. I noticed that the mic is very sensitive and pics up any background noise. I had a fan running about 15' away and herd it loud and clean on the recording. Others have to have this same problem so lets make it know so if something can be done about it it gets done with some kind of fix by T-Mobile and or Samsung. After all this is pushed as a media phone and audio is an important part of media in my humble opinion. If you have this phone please try recording some audio though the mic and post your results.

Try recording with Voice Recorder in the App tray, or a master reset if that doesn't resolve the issue. Let us know if that works!
Tried both and problem still exists. How about you? What kind of success or issues have you had? So It looks like 90+ people have viewed this thread but only two have the problem and one didn't say just mentioned to try something. Please if you read this let me know if you have this problem or not. I need to determine if I have a defective phone or not. Thanks for taking the time.

I have recorded a test flight landing. If you youtube it, you can find it associated with KIXD. I used audio swap from youtube in the publicly listed video. But the previous video that is now unlisted allows for a lot of over modulation, but it was sensitive enough to hear the guy next to me talking on the phone in the jet as we taxied. I'd say it's a really sensitive microphone element, there should be more control options for that if they intend for us to be recording HD! :D

OK I have seen an app for rooted phones so that tells me that an app can be made for non rooted phones, I think. Please someone create something that will eliminate this over modulation problem on the Vibrant. I will be going to my local T-Mobile store tomorrow to look at the My touch slide made by HTC. I know it has a slower processor and not quite as big or high res screen but it does have a 5mp camera with a flash and the phone seems to run well and looks pretty good from the reviews I've watched. I will be running the gamet on testing the audio and video quality.
