compiled from cm source for a clean build
more to come in v0.0.1 final so stay tuned.
themes in the works-
Insanely Clean theme
Smoked Glass from Adamz
and black bar
What is ShadowROM?
it is a rom based off of CyanogenMod Source code. this rom combines the best parts of Insanely Clean v1.3, pl3x v3.0.0, and CM6. you will notice that this ROM has a whole different feel from Cyanogen. we simply wanted to provide the best parts of CM like the On the fly theming, init scripts, a solid base and organized Source Code mangement. we wanted to make this rom the best it can be and this is only the start. this is a small taste of what is to come. I hope everyone enjoys this ROM as much as my self and billy have enjoyed making if for you.

***** ROM Review *****

Intial Setup:
Interesting boot. First thing you'll notice is that while it's the standard Droid eye, there's the words "First Boot" on top and the statement that this boot will take longer than any subsequent reboots you will make. Overall, it took 2 mins tops.
Everything was syncing fine and quick for about 15 mins. Then it seemed like it started getting hung up. I got a failed installation message for one app, and then had to cancel and reinstall a few apps. Then it went back to normal. After about 20 mins, I was down to one app left, but it just wouldn't take, nor would it let me cancel to reinstall it. I just ran TiBu and all was well.
Appearance:
As the dev and his team so poignantly point out, this is ROM has a stock theme, but there are a few diff theme options. At the time of this post, there's only a small handful, but I imagine more and more themers will be putting it on there list. Still, the options that are available are solid enough that you should find something you can make due with.
Performance:
Very nice folks. I stayed on the stock kernel for a full day before I realized I hadn't flashed a diff kernel. The stock kernel doesn't get you the best benchmarks, but the real world performance is def there. Virtually no lag in any aspect of phone performance, be it app function or internet, or multi-tasking. Adding a trusted kernel will only make that experience better.
Goodies:
This ROM is based off of the CyanogenMod source code, so you can expect a similar set of extras to be involved. And there are. It takes everything you've come to love from CM, with some added customizations. It would take too long to get to them all, but if you've used CM or Ultimate Droid in the past, you would be very familiar.
App and System Function:
I was very pleasantly surprised with my battery life. I've gotten better use on this ROM than any previous 2.2 ROM to date. Actually went about 20 hours of fairly moderate use before it finally went. That included changing themes and a kernel flash. Yes, this was on Slayher's kernel which has been known to drain some batteries due to the incredible performance. And everyone will be pleased to know that the battery stayed cool the whole time.
Great up to this point, right? Well, there are some hiccups. Firstly, there's the wallpaper bug that CM6 had. That's if you try to change it, it goes to it's stock wallpaper. Restarting LauncherPro will give you your wallpaper, but you'll still have it on your lock screen. After awhile, though, my lock screen is the same as my set wallpaper.
Then there's the FCs. Quite a few FCs, actually. Mostly LauncherPro, and perhaps that's where I read about them not supporting it. It happened pretty often. Also, I got more than a few "Android System needs to Force Close". That's pretty unsettling.
That being said, all apps seemed to work with no issue, including known perpetrators, GPS, WiFi, and the Market.
Overview:
Very solid first go from a new dev. This is a rare combo that I think we were all looking for, CM goodies, UD extras, Bugless Beast speed, and pretty great battery life. But there are def some bugs that need to be addressed that will detract from the overall body of work. If they can iron out those issues without sacrificing all that make this ROM beautiful, then it's my opinion that we'll see the best ROM available. But until then...
