Orange UK 1GB Data (Unlimited)

Do u actually use more than 500mb on your phone?

Most operators that offer 'unlimited' internet have a fair usage of 500mb so you may be hard pressed to find more.

Not right now, but I heavily regulate my usage, moving to 1GB would allow me more freedom. At the time I got the phone I believe the highest cap was 500mb, but it does seem like they have moved the cap upwards. Just wondering if anyone has any tips before I ring them.

How much data have you used and how long has it been since the last cap renewal? I've got 500mb and use no where near that. Do you use Wireless at home?

Last month I was around 460mb. I also use WiFi while at home, I'm out of the house at 8 for 12 hours so I have to use mobile data then. As I said thats with regulating my usage too.

Anyway guys, stop telling me that 500mb is enough for me, it isn't!

Actually T-Mobile's unlimited with the Hero has a 3gb fair usage policy, their regular unlimited is 1gb.

In response to the OP - not sure what to tell you, I found Orange to be utterly useless and uncompetitive when it came to their data plan and that's why I ended up moving to sim only on T-Mobile. 30 day contract too so if it turns to crap I can always move.

Yeah I see now its quite limited, especially compared to 3/t-mobile. I would probably still have stuck with Orange though, like the fact the coverage is good as I work in different areas on the country, plus orange wednesday and magic numbers.

3gb just makes me drool though! :(

I was on o2 before Orange, thier unlimited really did seem to be unlimited. Dissapointed I cant use Spotify and last FM due to the 500mb limit.

I only moved to Orange as I couldn't get a good O2 signal in my house. I wish I hadn't changed. Won't be staying with Orange when the contract is up as the other thing that annoys me is they charge for photo messaging. It's not included in your free texts, unlike O2

O2, like everyone else, have a 'fair usage' - but it's not advertised. I've seen people cut off for 600mb usage before. And they'll cut you off quicker if you're using streaming.

Anyway, lekky, best thing to do is phone them up and be honest - say you've seen the package available on the website but can't see any way to sign up to it on there, can you get it added to your account for the same amount as the bundle you're currently paying for? (IE,

Orange are bastards - always have been, always will be.

When I get my iphone (if my Hero sale goes ahead ok) although Orange have better deals than O2 (i.e. mins/texts), O2 according to friends are relaxed about data (they've never had any probs and they use data all the time) whereas Orange (being *unts) will take great pleasure in automatically charging you extra.

I vowed to myself never to use Orange ever again and I know for a fact I'm not alone on this.

My first full month I used nearly 900Mb and that wasn't really doing anything special! Think a lot of people get caught out by the wireless switching off when the phone is sat there by default so everything in the background is via data, had a few wireless 'issues' at home so often would switch to data if I was doing something, daft I know, but once I got that bill, (which cost about a tenner extra) I downloaded netcounter from the market, you can't believe how fast the hero uses data! So I switched off mobile data and will only switch on when needed! Bit daft I know with an 'unlimited' plan, but 500mb shouldn't even be considered close to unlimited for this new generation of smart phones!

ps. that wi-fi fix app has certainly made my wireless at home far more stable

I'm afraid it supports what I was saying - Orange are unscrupulous bastards. In the words of Han Solo, "Good luck, you're gonna need it!"

Hope you have some joy.

I dont think Orange are as bad as the others though - I've tried them all....! O2 sold me a phone that had 'Excellent' coverage for my home and work, but I then found that there was no coverage at all at Home.

They refused to cancel the contract until we threatened them with legal action.

Actually you're right. They're all bastards. Try this. Type in:

"Orange are"
"O2 are"

into the google quick search box and you will get many negative statements!

I think it's long been known that we've been getting screwed by all the mobile providers in the UK for quite some time now. They are renowned for their poor customer satisfaction levels.

Lekky

I think it was 150, then options 12222, its the billing queries number anyway.

Just had to phone them cos I ran out of minutes - they gave me another 200 free to tide me over til the 18th

Who's says Orange are rubbish lol

It was the Newcastle call centre I got through to. They dont seem to be busy right now.

Good luck

I have to say-Orange did good for me - by mistake they gave me 2 lots of 500mb and said I could keep it:) I've never used more than 500mb in a month though.
