Get 7 months of daily calendar entries from phone to Google Calendar?

Okay.. here is the backstory as condensed as possible:

I came from a Palm. +10 years of calendar data - with entries for almost every single day (workout data as I am a competitive athlete) - was converted over to go into the Google Calendar and my phone. It all went onto my phone perfect (CompanionLink). BUT, only a portion synced into the Google Calendar on the web. This was in January. Since January, I have not had any Google Calendar syncing ability from my phone to my Google Calendar. Well, shockingly, I noticed in August that when I went to 2.2, it started syncing my calendar entries from my phone to my Google Calendar!!! GREAT news. Now it syncs perfect and instantly as designed. Don't know why, don't care to know why. I can only tell you on the Google forums it was a known issue for many and now it has resolved for me.

SO here is the issue and what I have tried:

I have a 7 month gap of entries on my phone - I always kept it more up to date than the web calendar as I always have my phone and not Google Calendar access - that did not make it into my Google Calendar on the web and I am not sure if there is a way, without doing a 1 by 1 by 1 hand type deal, to get them to sync. I have tried doing the 1 by 1 by 1 and it works perfect, but no way I can manage that for 7 months of entries on my phone. I even tried just going into the phones calendar and making a slight edit to the entry to see if that would trigger a sync of the data. It did not. I would literally have to copy the entry, delete it, make a new entry and then it will sync perfect.. and that is not going to happen!

So, anyone have a thought of how I can maybe just get that 7 month gap of data from my phones calendar synced up to my Google Calendar in an efficient manor?

I have never looked but I wonder if the file made by something like MyBackup Pro would be readable/editable in excel or access?

My thought is, backup the calendar from the phone and move the file to PC. Turn sync off on the phone! In GMail, make a backup of your current calendar then delete all calendar data from GMail. Using the file format of the GMail backup, convert the phone backup to a format GMail can read. Import the new file and you just might get lucky.

You could also edit the phone backup to just include the date range you are missing, convert it to GMail format and import/add it to your current GMail calendar.

I had a very similar thought!

If I can get them off my phone somehow - like with MBP - and into a file on my computer, I could then do a copy and paste into Google Calendar. tedious, but not as tedious as a 1 by 1 by 1 hand edit on the actual small phone.

The only problem with your method is that the gMail format is ics via iCal and each entry in gMail is a separate ics entry. so that would mean hundreds of ics imports and files.

True. Wondering if Outlook could help as well. Suck them into Outlook then export from there. Sounds like a project!

hmm.... I do not have Outlook as I am a Mac guy and use Entourage.

I just sent an email to RerWare - the makers of MBP - to see if I sent them my calendar backup file if they could extract the data from a date range and send to me.. we will see

Ya, I am a Mac guy to at heart who must live in a PC world at work. They just bought me a new laptop and I BEGGED for a Mac. The answer was no, we don't know how to support Mac....
I looked at MBP's file structure, it's ugly, not an easy to read format.
Might look for other programs that do calendars and see if one of them can export to csv or something. I checked Gemini and it doesn't export. Maybe Deja?

MyBackup Pro has an online option. I just did a backup and you can view your calendar as a nice neat table online. Could cut and paste that into a spreadsheet. There's not much info there though.

Another thought...
Backup your calendar on phone with MBP and backup in GMail online too.
Delete everything from both and let everything sync till it's happy.
Then, restore on the phone from MBP and see if it will sync everything to GMail.

interesting.. I might look into this option as I never have backed up online but been using the app for 7+ months.

EDIT: dude.. that might actually work. somewhat tedious, but possible solution. thanks for the tip. I need to consider how I will grab the data off the site - I wish they had a csv export method, BUT it is better than nothing and the only real solution thus far.

okay... with this method, I think it is possible, but hella tedious as you have to export your entire calendar from MBP, then view the source off the MBP site and copy the source code to get the HTML table of data, save that huge file, import that in a text editor, try to cull out all the data BUT the date range I need... and a few more steps and then you will still have to import 1 by 1 by 1 from computer to Google Calendar and then erase the double entry off the phone that will be created.. ugh

Another thought...
Backup your calendar on phone with MBP and backup in GMail online too.

yeah, a bit to risky for me on that one.

I had the idea of creating a new calendar in my Google Calendar and then tell my Droid to sync this calendar as well. then go into each of the entries for that 7 months on my phone and change the My Calendar it is associated.. BUT I found out you can only select the calendar your entry is associated with at the time you create it when done on the phone. Once you create the entry in you calendar on the phone, you cannot go back and change it to a different calendar like you can on the actual Google Calendar on the web. So, I sync 2 My Calendars right now - mine and a work one - and I was going to add a 3rd, but it just will not work since you cannot change the calendar an entry it associated with after you make it on your phone, only when you create it are you given that option or when it is an entry on the web you can change it.. but not as an entry on the phone

wish there was a way to go from Droid phone ---> iCal on my computer. Then I could get those 7 months as ics files and import into Google Calendar.. I think. BUT I have yet to find a way to go/export from phones calendar into iCal.
