Help Data Synchronization Doesn't Appear to stop... battery is dying

I don't know what I did, but it seems that my data synch is on non-stop. Maybe I never noticed before but in the notification bar, I see the recycle arrow icon just to the left of 3G and I can't seem to turn it off and my battery is running out faster than normal and the phone is very hot.

I have used the Power Widget to power cycle (turn on/off) the data sync to no avail...

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks Steven

Thanks... I have turned off background data and data roaming and social applications will only sync over Wifi... and yet the recycle arrows are still there.

I will try and reboot... and see what happends.

@JWhitmer 2.3.13 of what? I am running stock Droid X 2.1-update1

Did you update to 2.3.13? If you did and used Titanium Backup to restore your apps then that is what is causing your issues. Instead of doing a apps+system data restore, try an app only restore. I had the exact same problem and that fixed mine.

The problem JWhitmer describes is not just with 2.3.13. I've seen the notification icon get stuck "on" in the notification bar in 2.1 and 2.2 as well. In both cases it was after doing a Titanium restore of system data. Try just the apps as JWhitmer suggests.

no such thing as a stupid question... the notification bar is cleared. Meaning there is nothing on the left-hand side of the bar. The only icons I see are (reading right to left) the time, battery indicator, bar signal strength indicator, 3G, and then the Recycle arrows of what I am assuming is the data sync process.

Yes... I do have Titanium Backup.. and the only scheduled backup is for both apps + system on Thursdays at 0635. My battery problems started on Saturday afternoon long after the Titanium Backup last ran and before the next scheduled one. And, I have never used it to do a restore, only a back up.

I am still perplexed and have attached my DX to life support (the power cord)
