Fantasy Hockey

Very funny.:p I know Hockey, I've just never done fantasy hockey or any other fantasy sport thing before.

Well no time like the present to start! Let's generate some interest and then I'll set-up the league. All you need to know is who you want to draft, and play the best matchups you have day to day. The rest takes care of itself ;)

What do you know so far? We could clear some stuff up if you would like. It is pretty easy once you have seen how 1 week works.

I think I have the general idea. I'm supposed to pick players based on how well I think they will perform this coming season. Their stats for the year will affect how my team performs in the league. Is that right?

Ya pretty much so. So you want a good overall team since you get scored in like +/- and PIM also, not just goals/assists.

We are playing head to head also. So your teams success needs to be more then your opposing team to win. So sometimes you can have a incredible week, but your opponent does just as well and you lose.

Yep that's right. You have an assortment of different positions and choose the best players for to play in that position each week. They get points for good plays (yardage and touchdowns in football). Your accumulative points for that week (in football) determines who wins. In the last few weeks, there are fantasy playoffs to determine the winner.

I'd explain it better but I've never done fantasy hockey before..

Are you guys doing head to head weekly matchups? Adjust your roster per game or weekly?

Is it pretty much the same kind of setup as football?

No negative in hockey. Like its good to have players that rack up penalty mins and also score. In standard h2h format you have like 10 categories.. if you win all 10 for the week you get 10-0 record for the week. So you can still lose a week, (4-6) but still get 4 wins and keep up with league leaders.

And hockey you can move your roster around daily. So you have to keep an eye on it to make sure your moving your bench around.

So its different but not by too much.. It is very similar to fantasy basketball if you have ever done that.
