Question about updating from a rotted 2.1 X

Hey guys, Im new to this community and rooting altogether, so please forgive me if im asking a really silly question.
I got my DX about a week ago and using easyroot rooted my phone, even though i got paid version of Rom manager still have no clue how to backup or change the rom. I used Root explorer to change the .apk for some blotware. That aside I wanted to know if i can upgrade to the new 2.2 Froyo without 1st unrooting and changing everything back to the way it was?? do i have to change all the extension back to .apk from .bak?
And would i be able to use easyroot after the 2.2 update as easily as i did before just by clicking "rootme"?? Thanks in advance

Thanks Tech_head, i set all the extensions back to .apk for the blotware and the unrooted the phone and the update ran just fine. The only issue i have now is BLOTWARE, I HATE IT !!!! I guess the only choice i have right now is to continue using Launcher Pro Plus (Love it) and just use the hide feature for now till i can use root explore again.
Anybody wanna throw in their 2 cents???

You need to put bloatware back.
You will lose root after the update.
Froyo already rooted via Droid2 method.
What this guy said. Although I think you can keep root if your su file is copied or transferred over to the /xbin/ directory before upgrading. You should be able to find the original in /bin/.

You need to restore all bloatware back to their original .apk extensions. You should also think about reverting any major modifications or customizations that you've made, such as framework edits and/or notification bar swaps.
