Many thanks to him! I tested this and it worked.
( If you're having trouble with failed update like me, try this )
I do recommend flashing back to stock using odin ( use method 3 )
and then flash this using clockwork recovery.
Flashing this will remove all the previous apps that you dl'ed, just so you know.
( like, back to how it was when you first bought your phone )

Hey guys, I see some of you are bricking or not being able to update.

You can use this to flash to I897UCJH7 OTA.

Use Clockwork recovery to flash it...

Cognition is currently being rebuilt on top of this, deodexed and all that fun stuff.

This flashes the system folder, kernel, and modem.

Can't get it to work. I downloaded JH7, renamed it to "update", and picked "update.zip from sdcard" in Clockwork. Boots up, baseband version is still the old one.

Okay, can I get a little more detailed instructions for this please?

On my sdcard.. should I have the non-renamed JH7 zip or application?

Then If I boot into Clockwork and select "apply update.zip from sdcard" or something along those lines it should work?

edit: when I go into "Install ROM from SDcard" in ROM Manager, nothing shows up there.

This worked perfectly for me. I was getting the failure at 50%.

used rom manager to backup my old rom, and flashed this one. many improvements above and beyond the notes from the patch. Most noticeable for me, is the compass, its WAY more responsive.

This meathod worked like a charm for me. Im now updated, my phone is snappier and my gps is better than what it was( I was one of the lucky few that had a okay GPS). Ive also noticed quite a few little tweeks here and there. Everyone should update this way. Now that i know how to flash roms, the real fun starts!!!
