Look at this guy at Cnet

If you know something is stealing, and against policy, why promote it and post a link to it unless you, yourself, were promoting and posting the stealing of someone else's work?

I was only posting a link to the video because I was amazed at how he was showing people how to steal it. I wasnt thinking that people were going to try to go there from a link in the video. To say I was trying to promote the stealing of someone elses work is a bit much, it was an honest mistake.

Lol @ some of you. I hope the guys out there who think this is somehow wrong aren't the same guys that are going ad-free on their Dincs  I also don't get how this is considered stealing or illegal when there is no paid version for us yet. If you don't have to pay for the beta, then where exactly is there a crime being committed? I think the sole crime here is Swype refusing to release a legit version to us.

Swype is not ours… We would do well to remember that. Maybe one day UNICEF will get into the mobile keyboard platform game, but until then; Swype is the one to see, and they have no interest in letting an individual have the product unless it is through an OEM purchaser. I do not like it, but that does not make it right for me to steal the software.

FYI: I have the CNET copy… But I have no illusion about what I am doing. It is wrong. I am a bad person.

No, you are by no means a bad person in the least bit for using something that is technically not even provided to you in the first place. I'm hoping the bad person comment was more sarcasm than anything. Nobody is losing money or sleep over you or anyone else using Swype. Had they offered it on the Dinc like they have on the X and other phones, they'd be producing revenue. But they're not, and it's not mine or anyone elses fault. You'd think with all the demand they'd get in to the game of making it available to the end user. Instead, they choose to ignore us and make us procure their product through other means. Again, not my fault.

You can't steal something that doesn't cost you a dime in the first place.

It was not sarcasm.
Just because something is not for sale does not make it free. If that were the case I would have my neighbor’s Maserati.
Swype has a good reason for not making the keyboard available in the app market. They have a business model which requires them to keep it out of the app market. But even if Swype did not have a good reason keeping the application out of the app market, it is their prerogative.

See Slug's post about this.

Essentially, the keyboard is the Swype's property and they have the legal right to dictate who uses it. If you're not in the beta, you have no right to be using it.

Whether you're a 'bad person' for using it or not is debatable, but the fact that distributing the .apk is piracy is not.

+1 for Ultra Keyboard!!!!! I also purchased SlideIT and think that Ultra Keyboard is MUCH better! AND it's only like $2!!!!!

Way more powerful than eith Swype OR SlideIT!

This doesn't make sense to me. Swype does exactly what it's supposed and very well. It doesn't have YTT however.

So please explain how it's 'more powerful' and 'much better'.

I'd like to consider the purchase so all I'm doing is playing devil's advocate. I have no devotion to swype - but it certainly works just fine for me, no restart bugs and the words are always what I intend.
