Root Wi-Fi Tether Only

I have a stock 2.2 and have not done the recent OTA nor have ever been rooted.

Can you do the OTA first, then 3.21 and be rooted for purposes of tethering?

My concern with flashing a new ROM and radios (to get the latest stock ROM) is that some apps may no longer run, especially HTC Sync which I like using with Outlook, FM Radio, Audible, etc...

I rooted after the update with unrevoked. Then deleted bloatware and installed wifi tether. Everything works for me.

The OTA update will not wipe out any of your programs or data from the stock 2.2 even though it does update the ROM. The same is true of rooting your phone after the update; your apps and data will still be in tack.

Just to be sure that I don't mess it up by using the following steps:

1) Do the OTA 9/22 update to the stock 2.2
2) Then do the Unrevoked 3.21
3) Then install wireless tether
