Memory Questions

Hey guys, maybe some folks who have been stat-crunching more than I can answer these questions. I'm upgrading from an iPhone 3GS, and I've considered both the EVO and Epic 4g. I'm of the understanding that the EVO comes with under a half gig of onboard memory and the Epic comes with...16 gigs?

To me that might seal the deal as I hate buying removable memory, it gets lost, or the cat bats it off my desk when I'm not looking, etc.

But does anyone know what the phone comes with as far as an SD card? Since I'm upgrading from an iPhone I plan to heavily use it for music and media.

It does not have 16gb of internal memory, it has 1gb I believe. It will come with a 16gb sd card...if I'm remembering that correctly. Some galaxy S phones have 16gb of internal memory, but not the EPIC. Samsung/sprint opted for the FFC, camera flash, and physical keyboard over the internal memory.

I'd also recommend upgrading your desk to one with drawers.

Well, even with memory cards, you rarely need to remove them unless you are putting a new one in or something. At least I havet had to touch it since I put it in...

I don't think internal memory should be your determining factor. Once the card is installed you can basically forget about it. The rear cover shields it, and essentially you have then increased the phone's capacity by whatever size card you install. You never have to remove it because you can access the contents just by plugging the phone in to your computer.

That's generally what makes these phones all the more appealing. You could have a 16gb set up for video, and a 16gb set up for music. All it takes is about a minute and you could swap them out. Or leave it in forever and just stick with the single 16gb.

It's a lot like the removable battery. The majority of us will never take it out. It's covered up and does it's job time after time. However there is always the option to have multiple batteries. Pop the rear off and you've just increased the amount of time you can use your device by however many batteries you have.

'Samsung Fascinate for Verizon: The Fascinate is Verizon's first Android phone from Samsung. As with most of the Galaxy S models, Samsung powers the smartphone with a 1GHz Hummingbird processor, and it will have a 5-megapixel camera with HD video capture and it will launch with Android version 2.1. Like the Epic, the Fascinate also has a 4-inch Super AMOLED display; however, the Fascinate will be a touch-only device with the option of a regular virtual keyboard or Swype. In addition, the smartphone has a six-axis sensor--as does the Epic--that works with the built-in accelerometer for a better gaming experience.
It's not clear whether Samsung will include a video store app on the Fascinate, but the phone supports a number of video codecs, including DivX. The Fascinate supports DLNA, so you can wirelessly share content with DLNA-compliant devices such as HDTVs and game consoles. As with the Epic, the Fascinate can be used as a mobile hot spot for up to five devices. The Epic has 2GB of internal memory and supports up to 32GB microSD cards--and it's packaged with a 16GB microSD card. Verizon apps for its usual services, such as V Cast Music and Video, VZ Navigator and Visual Voicemail, are all available on the Fascinate as well. However, neither Samsung nor Verizon have released information about the phone's pricing or availability date. '

I did the same thing!! I just rebooted the phone and everything was back in place! Pull battery
