I was wondering how these apps work. I was looking into Pandora. Seems pretty cool but then I saw that in order for these "streaming" apps to work, you're basically paying for internet time the whole time you're listening to the music, right? If this is the case, why use this type of app vs. simply downloading the music files to the phone?

You have to pay for the Unlimited Data and internet package when you get an Eris or smart phone so you arent paying anything extra for Pandora or i Music. They just warn you, so if you do not have Unlimited Data you will be responsible for the charges. So the reason you would want these apps because they are free when you have unlimited data packages.

Because the internet time is unlimited on a smartphone, not capped at 5gb like some people think. The 5gb cap is for broadband plans (mifi, air card, etc) unless you got one before the cap was put into place. Also, Pandora is free. I have about 5Gb of my own music on my phone, the stuff I really like, but I don't need to put all of it on there because I can just open Pandora if I'm in the mood for something I don't listen to a lot of.

By the way, first post, been reading since I got my Eris last month and love the site.
