Hi,

I have a problem with setting up a Google account with my Xperia x10 mini.
The problem is simple...the Google account is grayed out, inaccessible.
I can setup the email with my Google account, but I can't setup the phone in general with my Google account.

The problem began when I tried to set up the sync for contacts and calendar.
Contacts would sync fine both ways, but calendar only downloads from Google to my phone but not the other way around. It can't sync to my Google account events I add to my phone.

Has anyone else experienced something like that?

I read in the official Google Calendar support forum that the phone should had an option between Sony Ericsson sync and Google sync, but this option was never to be found (supposedly under Settings -> Data Synchronization).
Then I tried to setup the Google Account only to see it was inaccessible.

Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Mouzev

Hi, I copy the 2 answers I had.
I remember I erased my account, reset it and followed the advice the fellows gave me. The problem is solved

I hope this helps.

"Try going to contacts then selecting menu and try setting it up from there."

"I was having lots of problems (still have a few) until I did an over the air update by going to settings>about phone>software update and a lot of things appeared that I guess should be there. Don;t use the provided PC Companion (PC Install) to do the updates."

Can I ask where you are from because it seems that some things are restricted on location or by your carrier. Do you have the Android Market on your phone? Again this is location sensitive and may give an indication as to why you can't set up the account.

The only thing I can think of with the Mini is to try a repair/reset via Sony Ericsson Update Service but this will basically do a factory reset so you need to make sure you have copied your contacts to SD card (I normally suggest sync too just to be on safe side).

Hey rosered,

I am from India and using Samsung Vibrant (official unlocked) device here on Airtel. My GPRS works well, I can use Facebook default app well, weather apps successfully.

Also, android market is there on my piece, when i connect to it, it asks for Google account and as soon as I enter the info there it doesn't get connected.

Sorry I got confused between you and the other poster. Did you ask your question over on the Vibrant forum as well? I honestly don't know what else to suggest other than a software repair although I know nothing about Samsungs - my last one was a D600 about 4 or 5 years ago so my knowledge is somewhat out of date. I really hope that someone can come up with an answer for you.

I'm from the UK. When I first used my phone I setup the Gmail account as it asks you for your account details when first launching the App. All is fine.

However, I have the same issue as mentioned above, and I only did this out of curiosity, but when you then go to the 'Manage App' settings for any of the 'google' stuff, whether it be 'GMail', 'Google Buzz', 'Google Mail', '' or whatever then at the bottim when you 'Show' it says 'Your Google Accounts - discover accounts/view configured accounts', you cannot tap on these options to actually view the settings, never mind change anything! It all seems a bit of a mystery to me how you are meant to edit these settings if, for instance, you change your password.

So, like the poster said, how do you actually alter your account details, as I 've never seen any option in the App Setup tools or the App itself which lets you change your GMail settings?

Like I said my phone is unlocked UK, build version 1.0.A.1.36

@Rahuj: I'm still facing the same problem and i must say the piece is good, but there are lot many i mean loooooooooooooot many BUGs in it.

I am still not able to test with 3G as you know we are far behind on these things, and 3G is only available for BSNL now and soon will be starting on DOCOMO n VODA by end of this year; but know idea about Airtel.

Though, if you play with the phone you'll get more idea and the more issues (so you will start posting like me) everywhere. :) :)

@dionei: I tried that as well but had no luck :(
