A 1600mAh battery will? Isn't the stock one 1500 or 1550, something like that? I know a 3200mAh battery will add a lot of bulk. With one of those things attached you could use your phone as an offensive weapon!

Okay may be not double, but it will still make your phone thicker. And it will look horrible.

And I think 3200 mAh batteries should be classified as explosives.

I can't say if the 20% figure is accurate, but a black wallpaper will save some battery life. Of course there are numerous other factors involved, but for instance the Bionix ROM's are black-themed to help eek out as much life from the battery as possible.

I just added Kevin Moores' 2800 MH extended battery and enlarged back case to my wife's Vibrant after the original battery constantly died after only 4-5 hours of daily use.
It took more than 2 days to drain it with power savings off, before I recharged it.
If this is any indication how it may work in real life use....I think it is a potential answer to the Vibrants' Battery problems.
Yes..It makes the phone a little thicker, but it also makes it easier to hold onto..since there's more to grab.

I went ahead and picked up a premade Minty Boost from Etsy - in one of the (now-discontinued) Altoids Gum tins - as I write this Moses410 still has some. You can also get them in the regular Altoids tins (with either more batteries or space for cable storage) or get the kit directly from Minty Boost! - USB charger for your gadgets if you have a good soldering iron and skills.

Combined with an 8" USB cable from 8 inch USB 2.0 Type A Male to Micro USB Male Cable, rechargable AAs and a good battery recharger (I use the LaCrosse Technology BC-9009, but the Maha MH-C9000 unit is also supposed to be very good) it makes for a pretty compact setup that I can toss in my jacket pocket so I can recharge on the go without problems.

When traveling recently I used it on the plane and actually got off the plane with more charge than when I boarded.http://www.ladyada.net/make/mintyboost/

Nope. It has a Mini USB connection, which is the older slightly thicker one. The Vibrant uses a Micro USB connector. The other Duracell offerings (Instant Charger and Powerhouse) would work, but only if he also had an appropriate USB cable with him to use with their regular USB ports.

500 mAh is pretty skimpy as well. Must be tiny.

There are Mini-USB to MicroUSB converters out there, it's just a short cord with appropriate connectors. They're mostly intended for people who have a bunch of cables & power supplies for Blackberries, etc. who want to use them with newer devices.

I see 3500 now offered on ebay with extended back. Do they work ok?

It's definitely saved me on more than one occasion, and comes with a Micro USB tip, so you don't have to buy anything extra. (The battery itself has a full size USB port so you could potentially use any USB cable with it.)
