Just wanted to say that I picked up a Fascinate today after I lost my Incredible to warranty. So far I'm glad I've made the switch. I have, however, definitely noticed the lag that many users have seen, but I have no doubts that when I root it (later tonight, maybe tomorrow) those will go away.

Add one more person to the list of people waiting for 2.2.

welcome tbeas :D. once you get your hankering for root later tonight (or whenever) come join the cool kids  in the root section. the fascinate is an awesome phone, with a growing community, and lately the mods have been exploding! great time to jump in (intentionally or not)

I hope I'll be able to help. I'm not a developer, but I certainly knew most things about rooting, custom roms, etc. when it came to the HTC Incredible. Hope I'll pick up things just as easily over here and be able to answer the easy questions that get posted all the time.

tbeas, you are definitely welcome. I come from flashing ROM's on WM Phones and noticed all the fun everyone was having with their Androids that I just couldn't stay away. Be thankful that you have an idea of what is going on, I am still waiting for mine to show up on my doorstep and I have to relearn what the heck is going on. I will say though that I am looking forward to the experience!..

yeah a lot transfers over phone to phone. i also was most recently on an incredible before the fascinate. theres no s-off like on htc phones and we cant do AS much yet (change boot image :( a no-go yet) but a lot is coming down the pipe. in fact as long as you don't use a voodoo kernel most the day to day stuff is the same. just be careful with odin (never use the phone function!!!)

I don't notice "lag". What exactly is it? If it is a slowness at times for screens to change with a flick, maybe it's because it's just like my D1 so I don't notice "lag", I am use to it.

are you running the stock kernel?

if so, the "lag" would mostly show up when clicking on programs and waiting for them to load it would stutter for me or in games the action would well "lag"

All stock- I see nothing different from my D1 (except for the spectacular screen, bigger size, lighter weight, thinner profile. etc. etc.)
